Seeking metaphysical symbology |
I'm working on a little "Damien" type scenario (as in "The Omen"). This is a
not-for-profit thing, it's just a side-project I'm working on for somebody. I'm
now looking for symbology that is either religious or philosophical in origin.
Preferrably, the symbol will not be a drawing of an object (not even a very
simple drawing) but an actual -symbol- symbol, like a letter or a number, or one
of the astrological signs. For Death, for instance, I'm not looking for a skull
or skull with crossbones, though I suppose if it's a -very- simplified
representation, it would probably suffice. Here are the concepts I'm seeking
symbols for:
1. Death
2. Innocence
3. Gender (male or female, or one that stands for "gender" in general if such
exists)
4. Deliberated corruption (in the sense of deliberately perverting something or
changing its use into something that goes against what it was originally
intended for. It would be for things such as using a Christian cross in a
Satanic ritual, things of that nature)
5. The human body, either in general or more specifically a symbol representing
the human body in an optimal or "best" condition.
6. Violation in the sense of trespassing against another's property, committing
rape, murdering someone, etc...
7. Chaos in general - no moral aspect, simply "chaos".
8. Chaos as it is more specifically interpretted as evil or darkness.
9. Other symbols for evil, darkness, malice, etc...
Any pointers appreciated. You don't need to bother with the more obvious
symbols (like the male/female mars/venus signs or the human form inside of a
pentacle one), I'm just seeking those which are less commonly-known. It's for a
private story that I'm writing for someone else. My notion is to take the best
symbols of these concepts that I can find and work them into a single symbol to
encompass all of them.
Thanks in advance for your time! :-)

P.S. - when it comes to a symbol of death, don't even bother mentioning the
cross - I've already thought of it. ;-)
