Object: Seeking reference material regarding human tolerance for various atmospheric densities & mixtures of gases
Have there been any detailed studies as to the variations of air pressure and
gas mixtures that humans can tolerate while remaining reasonably healthy for
various periods of time? I haven't found anything via any really easy searches
yet, but I'm still looking. If anyone has any pointers, they would be
appreciated. Thanks either way! :-)

I've seen World War II footage where such testing was done on Jews in the
death camps. If I recall correctly, it was done for the benefit of the
Luftwaffe. But I could be wrong. I believe I saw the footage as part of the
'World At War' series narrated by Sir Laurence Olivier. The credits may help
point you in the right direction.
Good hunting.

Look into space medicine. I believe a 5 psi atmosphere is perfectly
tolerable, but it's just a vagrant memory.

That one's obvious - I'm pretty familiar with the particulars in that case. I
also recall that once upon a time, the navy would force soldiers to endure tear
gas as part of their "toughening up" and "weeding out" activities. I can also
look at space exploration research, airplane decompressions and survivors of
various kinds of fire. So there are -some- resources. Thanks for the pointer,
though! :-)

You might begin by farting while taking a hot shower. That
should give you a rough indication of human tolerance to
various air pressures vs a known gas mixture. Simply record
your tolerance level as a function of how long you can stay.
PS: you're welcome.

That wouldn't work. Oftentimes, humans (usually secretly) love the smell of
their own farts. :-(

Yeah, I recently discovered that in others but thought it
was an anomaly of some kind. But then it turned out to be
rather wide spread.
I'm not one of those people, but I do take pride when my
farts are odor free. It just seems ... healthy.
