But a funny thing happened on the way to literary success: Cheney's
not enjoying any. Her book has only sold less than 6,000 copies since
its May 9 release. During the week of June 3, for instance, "Now It's
My Turn" sold a mere 574 copies. So while it may be somebody's turn,
it's most certainly not Cheney's.
Cheney's push to sell books started the same way most right-wing
pushes go: Lash out at Democrats. Cheney criticized 2004 Democratic
presidential hopeful John Kerry and his vice presidential candidate
John Edwards for mentioning her during the debates. When Edwards
discussed her during the vice presidential debate with her father,
Cheney went so far as to mouth the words at Edwards that her father
made famous a few years ago: Go ***** yourself. Looks like the quail
didn't fall too far from the hunter. She also accused the pair of
playing "sleazy" politics by mentioning her sexual orientation.
