Semi OT: Ridiculous Anti-abortion bumpersticker |
I saw a bumperstick the other day that reminded me of spam from
Pangborn. It proved that the person with the sticker had absolutely no
fucking clue about the subject upon which she felt at liberty to
stupidly sound off about. It said, "Hitler made six million choices
too...", or something similar, implying that abortion is tantamount to
the holocaust. Actually, it seem that hypochristians like to invoke
the holocaust a lot these days, which is rather ironic, considering the
fact that many good xians were complicit in allowing the holocaust to
claim as many lives as it did. There were, actually, many stories that
leaked out about the NAZI death camps, and Jewish organizations tried
desperately to spread this news and get something done about it. But
most non-jews dismissed these as hysterical stories and exaggerations,
which they were not. Then there's the fact that born and raised xians
like Hitler seemed to think he was doing the Lord's work. It would not
be the first time their god demanded genocide. So I think that the
attempt to sound morally indignant about something like the holocaust
rings rather hollow coming from most xians.
I also can't help but comment upon the absurdity of the analogy between
a pro-choice position and Adolf Hitler implementing the holocaust.
Hitler, unlike a mother, was not seeking to stop a tiny fertilized lump
of cells in his own body from being born. He was usurping the rights
of many thinking, productive, educated, adult German citizens who were
quite capable of voicing their objections and feeling pain. Unlike in
cases of abortion, Hitler did not need to kill Jews to get rid of them,
but could have just deported them all. Again, recall how the good
xians in America rejected Jewish asylum seekers who sailed to the US
aboard the St Louis. Unlike a mother, Hitler's choice did not involve
having to raise and provide for dependent children for long lengths of
time. Hitler's "choice" also had nothing to do with personal privacy
or personal rights, unlike abortion. The so-called choices that Hitler
were on a national level, rather than a strictly personal one. Plus,
even the most fertile mother on the planet can't have 6 million
unplanned pregnancies :). Obviously, the rhetoric that anti-abortion
idiots, like the ***** with this bumpersticker, spew is intended to
completely demonize the opposition by ludicrously conflating a pro-
choice position with the worst acts of Adolf Hitler. I think it nicely
demonstrates that such anti-choice zealots are both intellectually and
morally bankrupt. It's amazing to me that these folks were able to
unite such unmitigated gall and profound ignorance in a single sticker.

Here in the middle of PA some anti-abortion activists decided to stand
outside one of the university buildings a couple of weeks ago with
images from abortions and the holocaust side by side. Apparently this
rhetoric is becoming popular (again?). From what I understand they also
managed to attract a group of people protesting their display.
Needless to say, a few alert citizens wrote to the paper condemning the
display. Those letters prompted several others who stated quite plainly
that abortion was genocide and the comparison to the holocaust was
completely valid.
Makes me wish I could find someplace civilized to live.

What you folks don't understand is how much of an improvement
this represents.
Yes, I said "improvement."
If you don't believe me than spend a little time on Google, pulling
up all the right-wing stories explaining how abortion is nothing
more than a legal means for Satanists & Pagans to practice ritual
human sacrifice.
I know, I know, most simply compare abortion to ritual human
sacrifice, but there are many people & groups who claim that
the imagined "similarities" go beyond coincidence.

Perhape we could counter by showing pictures of some of the infamous Nazi
book-burnings followed up by the right-wingers burnings and bulldozings of
Harry Potter and the Dixie Chicks, but the Chicks did that already.

It is rather sad that morons like puke aren't even aware of the
historical *fact* that fascists like Hitler and Mussolini outlawed
abortions very early on. Therefore, Hitler actually loved anti-
abortionists, contrary to puke's ignorant revisionism. Hitler wanted
canon-fodder for his wars of aggression, just like neo-cons do today.
You can't launch a fundy crusade without canon-fodder.
