Semi-OT because ultimately, it's a song that's very much in line with a
certain aspect of my views as an atheist. To give you some idea of the
tune, I realized after I played it a few times that the melody derived
subconsciously from that classical tune Vitamin C used in "The Graduation
Song". They aren't the same notes, but each note is in harmony with the
corresponding note in that original song and it's at the same
pace/rhythm. I lack the equipment at present to record it onto my
computer & post it or I would, but I think if you can imagine a re-
working of that song, you'll have a pretty good idea as to the melody.
To give a further indication of how I hear it in my mind, the song would
be _very_ well-suited for the musical style & vocalizations of Matchbox
20.
That's it. There are instrumental solos that break up the seemingly
straight-forward nature of the song a bit, but here are the lyrics as
they currently stand. Just felt like sharing, please disregard if not
interested:
"Somebody's Baby"
::Verse One::
She was somebody's baby
with a baby boy of her own.
A rainy morning driving him to school,
in a breath they both were gone.
::Chorus::
And isn't it sad to think
just how quickly it all can go?
One moment you're living the prime of your life,
the next moment, nothing at all...
::Verse Two::
He was somebody's baby.
Felt he had a job to do.
Out fighting for faces he'd never seen.
The bullet hit, but he never knew.
::Chorus::
And isn't it strange to wonder
what the mystery is all about?
Sometimes you don't know what's happening
when the lights start going out.
::Verse Three::
She was somebody's baby
once a really long time ago.
All those memories behind her eyes
faded there as she turned cold.
::Chorus::
And doesn't it hurt to know
just how quietly it all can end?
For a single moment the stars flow through,
and you will never happen again...
