Sen. Salazar: Justice Thomas is an 'Abomination'; black leader calls the slur, "racist." |
I have gone on record numerous times, there is no room for vile racism in
American politics. That this slur was issued by a liberal is not a suprise.

Sen. Salazar: Justice Thomas is an 'Abomination'
Black leader calls the slur, "racist."
U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar, who once called Focus on the Family "the antichrist
of the world," on Wednesday called Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas an
"abomination" - and at least one black leader is demanding Salazar
apologize.
The Colorado Democrat made the remark while comparing Thomas to the late
Justice Thurgood Marshall. Thomas and Marshall are the only blacks to have
served on the nation's highest court.
"There are members of the U.S. Supreme Court that Sen. Salazar very much
disagrees with," Salazar's communications director, Cody Wertz, explained to
CitizenLink. "Justice Clarence Thomas is one of them, especially when you
contrast him to the leadership and principles of someone like Justice
Thurgood Marshall."
Today, Mychal Massie, spokesman for Project 21-The National Leadership
Network of Black Conservatives, called Salazar's comment "reprehensible."
"That is an affront!" the syndicated columnist and New York City talk show
host said. "It is an insult to reasonable minds; it is a bastardization of a
reputable man who has worked and toiled to achieve the heights that he has.
For Salazar to say something so offensive simply bespeaks of the inbred
bigoted racism that still exists in the Democrat Party.
"I would submit, his (Salazar's) children should hope to be as accomplished
as Justice Thomas."
Massie said liberal Democrats oppose Thomas because he "stands for propriety
and decency - and for respect for the law within the context of the
Constitution."
"If Justice Thomas were saying, 'Oh, I'm pro-homosexual marriage. I'm for
licentious living. I'm for abortion.' - pick the most extreme measure - if
Justice Thomas were supporting those things, they would applaud him as they
did (former Surgeon General Dr.) Joycelyn Elders. He would be applauded as
they applaud Sharpton, Jackson and Farrakhan."
Further, he pointed out that Democrats opposed Marshall's nomination to the
high court, opposed Thomas, opposed Gen. Colin Powell's nomination to become
secretary of state and opposed the current secretary, Dr. Condoleezza Rice -
all African-Americans.
"These liberal Democrats know that they can never hope to assume power
unless they have that death grip on the black voter," Massie told
CitizenLink. "And the message he is sending is clear and ambiguous: 'If you
get out of place, this is what you can expect.' "
"This is a disgraceful comment," Massie added, "one that Sen. Salazar should
be held accountable for; one that he should apologize for on bent knee."

Yawn. The current crop of "conservatives" seem to think it is
"reprehensible" to criticize any conservative whatsoever. I might
take Massie more seriously if he objected to the continual and often
gratuitous attacks on Clinton (they wouldn't even wait until he had a
chance to actually do anything), and that didn't let up even when he
left office.
These hypocrites ranted nonstop for over 8 years and as soon as Bush
got into office, they demanded more "civility" in public discourse.

Indeed, apparently the same standards of conduct are not required of,
say, Pat Robertson or the frothing hysterics at the Family "Research"
Council or their zombie clones.
