Senator Macaca Fumbles & Gets Sacked |
Gosh, it looks like all those reichwing voter intimidation, robocalling
and bullying tactics just didn't work. Webb has stayed ahead of the
statutory .5% and remaining districts trend toward democrats. Old macaca
apparently fumbled badly in his own end zone. This could swing the
senate to the democrats.

I don't think the recount can be avoided. Webb would need a margin of
over 11,000 votes, and it currently is just over 7,800. Still,
recounts tend to favor the candidate in the lead.

Well, Tester has won Montana. Unfortunately Macaca Allen can probably
drag out the Virginia recount for 4-5 weeks before he finally has to
admit the truth.

Word is he is going to give in today. Wow! 2 months ago I never would
have thought we could take him down. I would have bet 2 seats, three
at most. Until late on election I still did not think we could do it.

It's all over now. Both houses are Democratic.

And Shrub does not get it. He made all the right sounds with Pelosi,
but his first action is to try to get Bolton approved. He could not do
that before, what makes him think it will work now. The Dems can stop
it and the Repubs won't want to alienate the other senators over such
a little (to them) thing. It is one more boneheaded political move in
a long list of boneheaded moves.
Think of it. If Rumsfeld had left 6 months ago the Repubs would have
the Senate. If Hastert had told everyone he was not going to run for
the leadership they probably could have kept some seats. I doubt they
could have kept the House, but it did not have to be a rout for them.
But they made stupid move after stupid move. And next time they have
20 senators to protect.

He said he wanted to work with them now. That means that he tells
them what to do and they do it. That's what he got. He was sober for
the press conference yesterday. Maybe he'll be sober again before the
new year, but I doubt it.
Think of it. If Rumsfeld had left 6 months ago the Repubs would have
the Senate. If Hastert had told everyone he was not going to run for
the leadership they probably could have kept some seats.
If he had immediately exposed Foley and publicly asked him to resign,
they might even have kept the house. But if he had he wouldn't be a
Republican.
But they made stupid move after stupid move. And next time they have
20 senators to protect.
And in 2010 they're pretty vulnerable too. If the Dems don't screw
things up too badly we might see a decade of sanity.
