Hurricane Katrina and other storms that battered the Gulf Coast
were God's judgment of sin, according to state Sen. Hank Erwin,
R-Montevallo.
"New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast have always been known
for gambling, sin and wickedness," Erwin wrote this week in a column
he distributes to news outlets. "It is the kind of behavior that
ultimately brings the judgment of God."
After touring Gulfport and Biloxi, Miss., and Bayou La Batre,
Erwin said he was awed and humbled by the power of the storm. But
he wasn't surprised.

I'm fairly sure this is the guy I saw on Scarborough saying pretty
much the same thing. Although his verbal response was
measured, Scarborough looked downright horrified.
I don't usually chime in about personalities, preferring to talk
about issues (although I fail from time to time), but it almost
literally makes me weep to think someone so pig-ignorant and
viscious-minded could be elected to public office, any public
office, anywhere in the country.

their mighty God and how he is ALWAYS upset. It's also interesting
to note that they can never explain why their mighty God leaves so
much collateral damage. A "real" God would take out only the wicked
and leave the rest alone. A "real" God would have destroyed all
homes in Sodom and Gomorrah EXCEPT Lot's, which would be totally
untouched. But, of course, there is no "real" God.

was not involved in the hurricanes, since He
has not told me anything about it Himself, but

about what a 'real' God would or would not
do, since you are so very far from being such

What do you know about the problems of creating
a cosmos, and evolving life forms of all kinds,
and even leading fully conscious, autonomous,
intelligent beings to their true destination
without violating their natures as self-conscious
beings? Since you cannot even prevent the death
of your own bodies, never mind do any part of this,
it would clearly be prudent to have the humility
to treat such matters with the difficulty they
require, rather than with the stupidly amused,
