Send back the Statue |
As a French citizen, I hereby asks you USians to send us back that Statue
we gave you over a century ago. With Chimpy (re?)elected, it's clear what
it stands for is now officially considered a joke in America.
Oh, and for the record, I wanna puke.

And would you mind reminding me who GWB's grandpa was making a fortune

Hint: as many French soldiers died during WWII as U.S. soldiers. An order

I never denied that French soliders died. Of course most of their

Because I assume that these types are actually as representative of
Europeans in general as the vicious France-baiters are of Americans.
That is: not.
I don't excuse the ones who do "spew hatered". On the other hand,
the ones who remind us that we over here seem to be adopting the
moral concerns and ethical caution of your eighth-grade schoolyard
bully I don't view as peddling hate.

Memo, There was another memo?
Damn, I've got to get back in the loop. Does this mean that I can no longer
agree with the European man I work with every Tuesday? Even if he's from
Denmark? That's just a little country.
We agree that Bush and what America is doing is wrong.
But there is something else I want to keep agreeing with him on.
A few months ago I told him I went on call at noon and asked him to take my
place if I had to leave or take a pong phone call. He said yes and asked
what it was for.
I told him I staff a rape crisis hotline. Now he asks the first and second
Tuesday of every month.
But when I first told him he talked a little about rape and the view of the
Dutch people on the subject. It is essentially what those of us who deal
with rape say and something few Americans, even those with rape survivors in
their family (If they know about it) ever say.
They punish the rapist (something rare in the USA, even when caught.) but
pay attention to the survivor, giving her (or him) the support and services
needed.
So even if I do get a copy of the memo, I'll not read it.

Note also that France and the French resistance is used as an example of how
it is not possible to crush a resistance movement no matter how harsh the

But the people continued to resist.
The people in Iraq today almost universally say that what is happening in
Falluja is illegal and immoral.
In other developments:
a.. Rebels take up positions in the heart of nearby Ramadi, after US
troops withdraw from the city, a former insurgent stronghold
b.. Iraq's largest Sunni-led political party, the Iraqi Islamic Party,
pulls out of the interim government in protest at the Falluja assault
c.. The main association of Sunni clerics calls for a boycott of elections
due in January
d.. The United Nations refugee agency and the International Committee of
the Red Cross express concern about the civilians in Falluja
e.. A suspected car bomb hits an Iraqi National Guard base near the
northern city of Kirkuk
f.. Rebels attack police stations in Baquba, north of Baghdad, wounding a
number of officers
g.. Two US soldiers are killed in a mortar attack at their base in the
northern city of Mosul, the US military says
"The people are the water and the soldier is the fish. Fish can't survive
without water."
I wonder what the US officers who face this resistance think when they
remember what they were taught on this subject.

we gave you over a century ago.
Sure...we will trade it for the remains of all those American soldiers
buried in French soil who died restoring your freedom sometime back.
It wasn't worth it.
With Chimpy (re?)elected, it's clear what
it stands for is now officially considered a joke in America.
One of the things it stands for is the freedom of American citizens to
choose our leaders without seeking the approval of of the French
regarding the choice.
Oh, and for the record, I wanna puke.

You can't have it. It reminds us of great Frenchmen like Lafayette,
men with courage that transcended petty politics. And it gives us
hope that one day another such Frenchman will surface.
Ask again in another hundred years or so.

Hmm.. well, that 400 quid you almost won would have bought a whole

Hm.. well, normally the Republicans claim to be the anti-tax party.
Bush did, after all, cut taxes. Now they just have to become the
anti-spending party again.
You'll notice that Bush has started floating the idea of reforming our
antiquated tax code. Twice since yesterday. They managed to keep it
fairly quite during the campaign, but Rep. Dennis Hastert wrote in his
book that they are exploring the idea of abolishing the federal income
tax altogether and replacing it with a national sales tax.
My three biggest political issues are taxes, taxes and taxes- and then
on top of that there's that whole issue of taxes. One of the three
reasons I voted for Bush and did not vote for Kerry was that I feel
the confiscation of fifty cents from every dollar I earn by various
and sundry governmental agencies is one of the most flagrant
violations of my liberty.
For the slightest chance of reducing that burden upon American
enterprise and, more importantly, upon me, I can endure all the
Hallelujah's Bush & Co. can muster.
Heck, I'd even settle for a tea tax.

Everyone who voted for someone else in a Red state (oh, the irony!) has a
legitimate complaint for taxation without representation.

They pretend to hate communism, yet their platform actually
embodies communistic ideas to the core.

I would say that their platform embodies fascism, which can be communist or
