Send back the Statue |
As a French citizen, I hereby asks you USians to send us back that Statue
we gave you over a century ago. With Chimpy (re?)elected, it's clear what
it stands for is now officially considered a joke in America.
Oh, and for the record, I wanna puke.

Well considering it was the most corrupt election since Saddam's last

I'm not saying you or any of the other Americans around here are fucking

as a population, only severe mental retardation can explain it's irrational
mindset. When confronted with the single easiest choice since "breath or
don't breath" they still made the wrong choice! The result of this election
is the single most dangerous and damaging event in world history, far out
ranking Hitler's rise to power, the difference being the American people did
it fully willingly with a smile on their face. When the SCOTUS is dominated
by fundamentalists...when the separation of church and state becomes a

Now I think it's bad, VERY bad, even, but don't you think this is just a bit
over the top? I mean it could _get_ that bad, I have no problem conceiving of
that scenario, but to say that it already is? Dude, take a valium or something,

We've never truly had separation of church and state.

If Shrub actually tries to rule the world, I certainly will. I can conceive of
it happening, too - I wouldn't put anything beyond him. But it isn't even close
to that yet. It is somewhat close, in my opinion, to him trying to dominate the
_Muslim_ world, and that's a grave and serious thing. If terrorist threats and
attacks against the U.S. hadn't started until the Shrub administration, I'd
assume they were engaging in their own form of "pre-emptive strike" (as it is,
they were pulling this crap long before Shrub). But neither the Muslim nor the
Christian worlds are the total world.

Statue we gave you over a century ago. With Chimpy (re?)elected, it's
clear what it stands for is now officially considered a joke in
America.
Oh, and for the record, I wanna puke.
Well considering it was the most corrupt election since Saddam's last
one...not to mention the fact that American's are, as a whole, fucking
idiots... you can't possibly say you are surprised!
Clayton, you know I normally love you to death, but please go *****

Well, we might as well get used to it now.
The rest of the planet was holding onto the hope that 2000 was a fluke.
Maybe even a fraud. That we'd come to our senses and throw the man out

Bush *said he was a uniter. He and the neo-cons are turning Earth against

Yeah, but I have a freakin' kid to think about - I want her to have a future
:(
Bush says; "No, and do not collect unemployment or food stamps."
Darn- guess she'll have to get that education and develop that work
ethic after all...
Education is not authorized and work *where?*
Education is free... and employment is up.
Education has been dumbed down in the main public sector.
Employment where? Doing what? For how long?
It's not all doom and
gloom and Republican conspiracies, friend.
Its well past the gloom and doom phase.

I was listening to a NPR show yesterday where they were briefly
discussing attitudes toward religion in Europe. I came in late, had to
leave before it was over, so I couldn't make out whether the person
being interviewed thought Europeans were nuts or Americans, but I was
sure wishing my ancestors had never sought their fortunes over here.
This country is sick - sick with religion, homophobia and rampant
selfishness. It disgusts me that all eleven of the anti-gay marriage
questions passed. It disgusts me that Congress makes damn sure that
they get health care and to hell with everybody else. The war in Iraq
both disgusts me and scares me: we'll reap what we sowed there for
hundreds of years to come. And of course the religious agenda of our
politicians is just plain ugly.
I'm 56 years old and my wife isn't well. It's too damn late to pick up
and move somewhere else. But I wish it were not.
I value the ideals of this country - the things I was taught, the
freedom and equality we supposedly stand for. But we are so far from
those ideals now that if we were younger, I'd want to leave. I don't
know where we'd go - I realize that no place is ideal. Doesn't matter
now anyway; as I said, we can't do it.
And then again I think that if I ran away, that's just handing it over
to the bastards.
As I write this, Ohio is Kerry's only remaining hope and it doesn't
look likely. I'm disgusted and angry, but life still has to go on. I
have places to be and work to do.

Sometimes when I look at Americans posting to this newsgroup I'm startled by
the anti-religion vehemence. Here in the UK church going ,serious
(non-nominal) Christians are more like a rather curious "minority group" to
be protected than something to get worked up against and oppose.
Interesting survey comparing countries,
