Sensible advice in the Bible |
Like a stopped clock which is correct twice a day (or once on military
time), the Bible occasionally coughs up something truthful or useful.
I thought it would be fun to collect a partial list.
Proverbs, for example, can be boiled down to "The fool runs off his
mouth on topics he knows nothing about, confirming his idiocy to
everyone, whereas the wise man knows when the STFU."
I'd say this is fairly good advice (especially on Usenet). Then
there's this comment attributed to Jesus (he was talking about keeping
kosher--which he and his followers didn't) "I say to you, it is not
what goes into to your mouth which defiles you, but the words that
come out of your mouth, that is what defiles you."
Which I think makes a lot of sense. There are a number of religionists
on Usenet who would do well to take note. (And as far as I'm
concerned, you can extend that sentiment to "unclean" sexual behavior
as well.)

And didn't you just prove it with your final comment.
