Activist Judges on a Roll - Third Judge Rules Against PBA Ban
In a somewhat expected decision today, U.S. District Judge Richard Kopf of
Lincoln, Nebraska ruled the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act unconstitutional.
This is the third time in just weeks that a District Judge has ruled that
Congress cannot prohibit a procedure that partially removes an unborn child
and crushes its skull. The stage is now set for the Supreme Court to again
consider whether there can be any real restrictions on abortions or whether
this most gruesome procedure can be performed on innocent human life.
The makeup of the Supreme Court will likely change before it rules on the
law - something to keep in mind as the elections draw near. How the Court is
composed will be determined by who is President and which Party controls the
Senate.
Friend of the Family Named Ambassador-at-Large
Yesterday, Connie Mackey, vice president of government affairs, and Pia de
Solenni, director of life and women's issues, attended the swearing in of
Ambassador-at-Large John R. Miller.
Ambassador Miller has headed up the State Department's Office to Monitor and
Combat Trafficking in Persons for 18 months now and has consistently upheld
the authentic dignity of the human person. He calls sex trafficking what it
is: slavery. He hasn't settled for the comfortable words like "sex worker"
or "sex laborer," words that hide the horror of what these victims suffer.
While some international voices think that sex trafficking can be made
"safe" by simply giving the victims of sex trafficking condoms, Ambassador
Miller knows the truth. They must be rescued and their traffickers must be
arrested and convicted. Only by pursuing those who traffic in human persons
and those who are their clients will we be able to end this modern day
slavery.
Last year, almost 3000 traffickers were convicted. We compliment and thank
Ambassador Miller for his efforts. To see Pia de Solenni's article on the
2003 sex trafficking directive, visit the link below.

Religion of Peace?
Islamic terrorists in Iraq, who have been abducting foreign civilians and
killing them for the last six months, have now asked for a fatwa, a
religious ruling by the Association of Muslim Scholars, as to whether Islam
approves of their actions. A spokesman for the Association said this is a
difficult question and would require "profound study."
Would the same response apply if the terrorists in Russia, described by
President Putin as Arab men trained by the al Qaeda, had inquired about
their jihad that left over 300 people dead, many of them young school
children that they had held for days without food and water?
Something is not right with a religion that sanctions the intentional
killing of innocent civilians in their effort to extort concessions out of
government officials. Is this the same Islam that unwitting politicians have
attempted to convince the American people is a religion of peace?

<LOL!> This right after the "objection" to abortions that save a woman's
life! Oh, the irony!
What, we're not supposed to notice that women sometimes die in
childbirth? Nor that those deaths could be prevented?

The danger for what the press derisively calls the 'Religious Right' is that they are making the same mistakes the religious left made. To solve the moral problems of the nation they are looking to government rather than the Creator of their faith and His strategies.

Pardon me for asking but didn't right-wingers used to support the rights of the
individual over the power of the state? Now their support for authoritarian
government is almost communistic. They want government to have the final say on
whether or not a couple can or cannot reproduce...a position identical to that
of the Chinese Communist Party.
As I've always said...scratch a fundie, find a commie underneath.
