Object: Serious Question. Honest.
Message originates from alt.atheism. You have been warned!
We Godless atheists are sometimes asked by believers of various
stripe: "what would convince you there is a God?".
By the same token I'm curious to know is there is any matter of fact,
that if shown beyond any doubt to be true, or at least beyond
reasonable dispute, that would convince you believers that there is no
God.

Short answer: No.

Good answer in as much as it tells me all I need to know.

Congratulations. Glad I made you happy. Now turn it around. Could I
reveal ANY FACT to you, ANY FACT whatever, that would cause you to
believe in God and in His Son?

I would at least begin to take the claim seriosuly if you revealed to
me the name of the book lying by my computer. That should be really
easy. It is nothing like universal peace or having Bush make a speech
without making a mistake. When should I expect an answer?

You could be in trouble then. Psychic phenomena would no more
prove the existence of the Christian God than would the discovery
that one or more of the accepted principles of physics or
mathematics was wrong.

I only said I would begin to take the claim seriously. In all
fairness it would be a reason for further inquiry.

OK, I did not read what you posted carefuly enough

Such discoveries have been made in the

past and our knowledge and understanding of mathematics and
physics have grown as a result.

But if Bush gave up lying then I might waver for a bit ...

It only goes with the territory because millions of people are
resigned to having dishonest leaders. That is democracy in
action.
It took long enough to get rid of the feudal gangsters. Maybe it
will take a few more centuries before the power hungry sickos are
booted out.

Now tell us YOU have never lied!

As the years go by I tell less and less lies.
My idea of a good national leader would be someone who was even
more honest than me. And I accept that there are situations in
which lies are appropriate.
But Bush is practically one big lie.

Common mistake, it supposed to be pronounced DAN-ish because the

I'll even give a hint. The book is written in Danish.

Pastry Made Easy........(trying hard to keep a straight face)

Over here we consider the fact that you call that thing a "Danish" to
be incomprehensible.

Common mistake, it supposed to be pronounced DAN-ish because the
pastry bore a remarkable resemblence to this guy named Dan...

Ah, that explains it. I will pass it on.

Yep. That Dan was one sweet guy.

Okay, that's now three conflicting excuses now as to why you cannot
answer Thomas's question.
1. "If a person did do it, he'd be a demon."
2. "You wouldn't believe even if I did do it."
3. "Christians shouldn't be expected to perform for you."
I guess my quote above was wrong. It would be more correctly stated as
"You'll get THREE excuses immediately. You'll get an answer never." :)

Message originates from alt.atheism. You have been warned!

We Godless atheists are sometimes asked by believers of various
stripe: "what would convince you there is a God?".

There's only one thing that could convince me ... and that is ...

EVIDENCE.

So far, there has been none whatsoever.

Kenny L.

And you will never see any evidence for God because you #1 aren't
looking and #2 you aren't interested.

You're wrong above on both counts ... unfortunately :)

There is a bundle of evidence in the Bible, but you just explain it
away. Why? Not because it's not true. You shove it aside because you
simply aren't interested.

Unrealistic events contained in a book is not evidence. Again, you're
wrong about shoving things aside. You made that up, which is what
christians are known to do.

There are none so blind as you who choose to not see.

Again, you're wrong, and you made this up.

"You don't break God's laws; they break you."

Try to break out of this stranglehold then ... if your god is a
all-knowing, perfect planner and perfect designer, then obviously this
god planned and designed every single one of your mechanical actions
with PERFECT knowledge BEFORE you were even created PHYSICALLY. This
means that you cannot have any free-will to do things for yourself
since your actions are actually god's own actions...as they were
planned and designed before you were even physically created...step by
step..move by move..every single one of your actions.

Message originates from alt.atheism. You have been warned!

We Godless atheists are sometimes asked by believers of various
stripe: "what would convince you there is a God?".

There's only one thing that could convince me ... and that is ...

EVIDENCE.

So far, there has been none whatsoever.

Interesting how you run away from things that you don't know how to
address because I exposed very OBVIOUS and fatal flaws in the
christian belief that even you can understand. You should be at least
kind enough to thank us for helping you to understand such simple
things. As you know, it doesn't TAKE MUCH thought to know that I was right
in what I said. Once you understand, and which I am sure that you do
now, it's like a light bulb turning on...and you wonder ... 'Hey! It's
so simple and trivial! why didn't I think of that before?!!!!'
When you say 'whatever you say', it simply tells me that you're too
afraid to face what you actually understood from my comments.
