* Jack Kemp: did not serve, due to "knee problem", although continued in NFL
for 8 years.

Kemp's career in the NFL and AFL was from 1957-1969 although he did not play in
1958, 1959 and 1968.
It is ironic in the extreme that the only professional athlete to be killed in
Vietnam was Kemp's teammate...Bills offensive lineman Bob Kalsu. Kalsu, like
Kemp, also suffered from knee problems.
