In our last episode,

talented Sebrom01 broadcast on alt.atheism:

Writing as a person who as a boy sought out and had sexual
encounters with older males, including adults, and who believes
that the outcome of these relationships was overall positive -
or at very least not harmful to me, I will not be participating
in this survey and I urge others not to participate.
While I believe the phenomenon of sexual contact between boys
and older males is worthy of scholarly investigation, I think
there are serious reasons to doubt that this questionaire serves
any valid scientific purpose.
1) So far as I can tell, sebrom (the site asking for responses
is sebrom.net) stands for "Sexually Expressed Boyhood
Relationships with Older Males." Although the From line of the
posting requesting responses is admin@sebrom.org, suggesting
that this questionaire is sponsored by some organization,
sebrom.org cannot be located by "whois."
2) There is no indication that sebrom.net is anyone other than
David L. Riegel, who according to his own description on this
site, has no relevant professional qualifications. There is no
indication that this research is being conducted under the
auspices of any educational institution, professional
organization, or under the supervision of anyone with
appropriate professional qualifications. There is no reference
on the site to any ethical or scientific supervision of this
project by any responsible, accredited organization - or anyone
at all, for that matter.
Friends this is not the way science is done, and especially not
in behavioral and social sciences.
3) This is a questionaire on a website that requests anonymous
responses. Referals to this site evidently come from such
things as the posting to this news group. Such a questionaire
cannot possibly produce results with any scientific validity.
We are often treated to articles from Judith Reisman, Paul
Cameron, and other rightwing nutcases, who present their garbage
as science. The answer to them is not pseudo-science with an
opposite opinion.
