The young man who last Sunday shot and killed two people at a youth
ministry training center, then killed two more and himself at Colorado's New
Life Church (Ted Haggard's former home), was a cast out from the youth
ministry, probably because he failed their attempts to make him "ex-gay".
As noted by Richard Rothstein, Matthew Murray, 24, posted on his blog that
he had written letters to his mother, complaining that the church had
forgiven Haggard, but not him.
Last summer, he wrote, "People like us are going to go to hell, according
to Christians." He lists several reasons why. Reason number seven is bluntly
stated, "I'm bisexual." In other postings, Murray wrote, "... I can never
get a female date. I am at least able to get some male action."
And later, he wrote about confronting his mother about his bisexuality.
Murray wrote that he told her, "Using drugs, alcohol and having gay sex,
I'm just trying to do what any Christian pastor would do. At least I'm not
doing meth like Ted Haggard."
Murray also noted that the Church forgave Haggard.
He posted, "I want to know where was all the love, mercy and compassion
for my supposed imperfections?"
In 2002, Murray was dismissed from the Youth With A Mission group for what
they described as "health reasons." Youth With A Mission has been described
as "associated with the ex-gay organization Exodus International, has been
criticized by some as a 'cult' and attacked for 'brainwashing' members and
promoting anti-gay messages."... [emphasis added]
Inserted from <Joe My God>
Three days ago, I posted HERE that the FRC had blamed the shooting on the
"liberal" media's intolerant attitude toward Christians. Since then,
several Bush/GOP pundits have tried to blame this incident on the left. Now
we see the truth.
Matthew Murray was bisexual. He did not fit with Supply-side Jesus' piety
codes, so they brainwashed him. They tried to make him a good little
hate-monger in their image, and in the process they destroyed his life.
What they did does not justify his actions. Nothing can. However it does
put them in context where we can now understand why this tragedy occurred
and how easy it would have been to prevent.
Authentic Christians would have accepted Matthew Murray as he was.
Authentic Christians would not have tried to reprogram him. Authentic
Christians would not have rejected him and cast him out.
Instead, these despicable hypocrites sowed the wind, and having reaped the
whirl wind, now they scurry like the rats they are to deflect the blame onto
others.

Forgot to mention- thanks for the links to this
site. I'm going to post some Jefferson articles
from it. The urls, anyway, they're long and
excellent articles - especially the ones by Chris
Roda. I'll be checking out and probably
buying his books tomorrow.
These are from the Talk To Action Blog which
claims it is 'Reclaiming Citizenship History
and Faith'. I am interested in the history
section which is not what we atheists would
expect to find in any kind of faith-based blog.
I haven't checked out the other parts yet, but
I have a feeling that they will be a pleasant
surprise, too. When they say they are reclaiming
history, they honestly mean it. They hate the
Dominionists, too. It's wonderful!

get a female date. I am at least able to get some male action."
And later, he wrote about confronting his mother about his bisexuality.
Murray wrote that he told her, "Using drugs, alcohol and having gay
sex,
I'm just trying to do what any Christian pastor would do. At least I'm
not
doing meth like Ted Haggard."
Murray also noted that the Church forgave Haggard.
He posted, "I want to know where was all the love, mercy and compassion
for my supposed imperfections?"
In 2002, Murray was dismissed from the Youth With A Mission group for
what
they described as "health reasons." Youth With A Mission has been
described
as "associated with the ex-gay organization Exodus International, has
been
criticized by some as a 'cult' and attacked for 'brainwashing' members
and
promoting anti-gay messages."...
He did not fit with Supply-side Jesus'
piety
codes, so they brainwashed him. They tried to make him a good little
hate-monger in their image, and in the process they destroyed his life.
What they did does not justify his actions. Nothing can. However it
does
put them in context where we can now understand why this tragedy occurred
and how easy it would have been to prevent.
Authentic Christians would have accepted Matthew Murray as he was.
Authentic Christians would not have tried to reprogram him. Authentic
Christians would not have rejected him and cast him out.
Instead, these despicable hypocrites sowed the wind, and having reaped
the
whirl wind, now they scurry like the rats they are to deflect the blame
onto
others.
I've posted articles that already Tony Perkins of the FRC is blaming
'hostility in the media towards Christians":
http://www.talk2action.org/story/2007/12/11/22954/809
and some other idiot was blaming atheist writers like Dawkins and Dennet:

Liars and hypocrites.
Nu? (Yiddish pretty much for 'What else is new?'
I think you know this already, but others might not.)
No I didn't, but that's one to remember. :-)
