Signs of Life on Mars... |
Came across this article re Martian microbes being alive and well, I guess
there's further research to do, but any thoughts as to what the theist
reaction would (will?) be if this is proven true? I predict there will be a
wave of cynical conspiratory theory doubt (e.g. "The Mars probe was a
hoax"), then the christians will coopt Martian microbes into god's plan.

Fascinating stuff.
The ex-friend that I've often spoke of in the past honestly thinks that the
Hubble is "all wrong".

I'm skeptical. Could be natural phenomenom. What's to stop god from
putting some bugs on Mars in the minds of theists.

It turns out it was a hoax, NASA has said as much:

There is a saying that I have found to be generally accurate: All Truth passes
through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as self-evident.
I expect that the reaction to evidence of life on Mars would go through these
same three stages.

Failure at stage one.
