Object: Silence! Unless you agree with Bush
What "liberal" media?

You've heard of John Murtha, right? He's the
decorated combat veteran who first supported
Bush's war in Iraq, only to recently conclude
that the war had been so badly managed, and
U.S. credibility so thoroughly destroyed, that
we should simply pull out of Iraq.
Anyhow, the Republicans responded with their
typical "Smearboat" campaign against congressman
Murtha, and Democrats -- especially John Kerry --
vowed to not let the Republicans get away with it
again. Then it happened. Outrage topped outrage.
Jean Schmidt
Congresswoman Jean Schmidt barely won her seat
in a close "special election" against Democrat Paul
Hackett. Now, as it turns out Paul Hackett is himself
a veteran of Iraq, who was forced to endure having
his patriotism called into question by Jean Schmidt
and her surrogates during their extremely tight race
for congress. So, you can understand that Jean
Schmidt was already a reviled figure amongst
Democrats, her being a super sleazy neo-con and
practitioner of "smearboat" tactics. And when I say
she was reviled I mean BEFORE she stepped on to
the floor of the congress and called John Murtha,
a decorated combat veteran, a coward.
Democrats decided that enough was enough, and that
Jean Schmidt, as an unusually vile offender, would be
made into an example. The Democrats decided to
take out ads -- billboards -- confronting Jean Schmidt
with her smears. Unfortunately, the Democrats forgot
one thing:
Freedom is gone, a Republican taking a page from
the Bush bible of sleaze is good & NOBODY is
allowed to say differently.
| Unfortunately, at about 10 AM, we got two phone
| calls -- the first came from Lamar's Cincinnati office
| informing us that because of the content of the ad,
| they are refusing to continue to work with us. The
| second call came a few minutes later from Lamar's
| Huntington, West Virginia office, informing us that
| despite our signed contract, they were also rejecting
| our ad. This reversal came more than 24 hours after
| the DNC had signed a contract with Lamar, and 48
| hours after they had accepted the artwork for the
| billboards you helped pay to put up.

Ah yes, Lamar, they also refused to sell billboard space to a Georgia
Advocacy, but did choose to sell billboard space to homophobic ads.

Democrats, Republicans, smear campaigns.
None of it matters much at all.
It is just a side-show designed to distract the punters' attention
away from the man behind the screen.
Big Business owners, who really run the USA, (and the world, for a
short while), for their own selfish short-term gain.
It will go on like that, irrespective of which colour hats the
marionettes happening to be wearing in congress.
Get over it folks, and get stuck into changes that will actually make
a difference.

Right on, bro!
Go! Go! Status quo!
Go! Go! Status quo!
Seriously, dude, no living creature can look at the
last five years under Bush and conclude that it doesn't
matter, that Democrats & Republicans are both the
same.
Economically... environmentally... civil rights...
*Everything* has taken a rather large leap BACKWARDS
these last five years.
Yeah, sure, maybe "progress" under Clinton was a case
of "Too little too late." And maybe even Al Gore would
have picked up the pace ENOUGH to bring us where we
should be right now. But instead of inching our way towards
the prize (when we should have been sprinting), we've
all gotten thrown backwards a few miles.
I hate to say it, but it's people like you, people who try
to zap others of any incentive to act, that are the most
to blame.
Get over yourself. Learn to compromise. Because,
in the end, that's the only way you're ever going to
get anyone else to compromise...

One of us is confused, and I'm pretty sure it's not me.
Who started what conversation in such manner?
And why does your "it's a package deal" have anything to do with your
assessment of my post being entirely negative?
I really must be missing something here.
Could you please, for my benefit, not beat around the bush, and tell
me what on earth you are talking about?

You did, when you stated the following:

It matters it matters a great deal. Nobody could be alive these
last five years and not be in tune with *Exactly* how whopping
hugely it matters.

I told you. It's a package deal. You began with an absurd
statement. That set a tone.

You did, when you stated the following:

| Democrats, Republicans, smear campaigns.
| None of it matters much at all.

Now, I'm *really* confused!
I asked you to explain who started a conversation in the following
manner:
"When someone begins a conversation with, "The Earth is only 6,000
years old..."
And you responded that I did, by saying the following:
"Democrats, Republicans, smear campaigns. None of it matters much at
all."
Now, shoot me down in flames, but I can't see even an inkling of
similarity between the one and the other.
I have asked another person to review this thread, and he can't see
what the hell you are talking about, either.

It matters it matters a great deal. Nobody could be alive these
last five years and not be in tune with *Exactly* how whopping
hugely it matters.

I told you. It's a package deal. You began with an absurd
statement. That set a tone.

Equivalently, you have repeated a unsupported and quite bizarre
assertion, and attributed it to me.
That definitely "sets a tone".

Ah, so you were wrong, and can't bring yourself to admit it, and so
must resort to childish foulmouthed abuse, instead of supporting your
statement.
I thought as much.
Your "example" is no such thing, and does not apply to me.
I have never said, nor implied, such a thing, nor anything even
vaguely like it.
No wonder I was confused.
For a while there I thought that you actually had a sensible reason
for applying this crazy non-sequiter to me.
Now I know better:
You made a mistake, and are too proud to admit it.
That's OK.
I had expected better from you, though.

A tiny change in the buying habits of every American consumer could
bring dozens of the most powerful corporations to their knees.
Consumer boycotts in Europe are hurting American companies, who have
been spending a fortune on advertising campaigns to try and win them
over. It's pretty easy to find out which companies are supporting
corrupt regimes (with the money we give them), destroying the
environment, infringing human rights, etc etc. Consumers have the
power to stop all of that and direct their money towards companies
with a more enlightened attitude. That's the reason that supermarkets
now stock organic food and tend to steer clear of GM. The fuckers will
do anything for more money, including cleaning up their act.
It's a shame more people aren't willing to make a few small changes.
