I know this guy is just trying to update the old "Yes, Virginia" *****.
My question would be why he bothered to add his poor writing and thinking
skills to the lies and hackneyed pandering of the Francis Church article
that he is "updating". Technology is not a miracle and even if it were it
would have nothing to do with santa claus. The fact is that the santa
claus conjecture can be tested empirically and we can prove that santa is
not the one that delivers the presents. In fact the old Francis Church
article essentially concedes that point.
However, one can still have a fine childhood without swallowing the santa
claus lie. Most kids, including Virginia, already knew there was no santa
and didn't need some ***** to write pages of lies to her in the hope that
make believe would sound better than reality. Why is it that some many
people imagine that they would be unable to enjoy a holiday unless it were
based on mindless myth and unexamined rituals?
As a side note I would add that those people who confuse technology and pop
physics with magic and random fantasy really don't belong in either a high
tech or scientific field. They certainly have little to contribute, except
perhaps muddle-headed nonsense, like this malone guy churns out.

I've wondered that myself.
My conclusion is that reality disturbs them to such an extent that they
think only by living a fantasy is it possible to enjoy life.
I think we may have stumbled across the true meaning of Christmas...
