Object: Similarities between Bible and other antical stories
It is interesting that many Bible stories have paralell with other
antic stories. I have opinion that if not plagiarised, they are written
under other influences:
- Mesopothamian gods had 6 generations just like 6 days of creation.
Even more, gods of Sun and Moon belong to the same generation as the
day when (according to Bible) Sun and Moon were created. The gods of
mankind are from the sixth generation, and man was created at sixth
day etc.
- Lot's wife was converted to stone when she looked at the burning
town. The monster Gorghona Medusa had a power to convert to stone
anyone who looked at her.
- The description of flood from Bible and from Gilgamesh are almost
"Search and replace" with the same methods of discovering of flood
cease (sending birds from the boat)
- Splitting the Red sea is similar to Neptunes powers with harpoon.
- Moses received the laws at the top of mountain by Yahwe. Hammurabi
received laws at the top of mountain by Messopothamian god of sun.
- Jesus had similar fate as Prometheus. Part of gods family,
intermixed with human beings and both were punished to hang on the
hands (on the cross or rock).
- Hell is much influenced by Greek Hades. The Old Testament did not
mention Hell until appearance of Helenism in fourth century BC.
Does anybody know more similarities?

Genesis 1:1 is similar to most creations stories where a god or very smart
animal created man and everything else out of existing material. I.E. The
earth was already here.
"The correct translation by Hebrew scholars of the JPS, from the traditional
Hebrew text, which makes much more sense, is:
"When God [ELOHIM] began to create heaven and earth -- the earth being
unformed and void, with darkness over the surface of the deep and a wind
from God [ELOHIM] sweeping over the water -- God [ELOHIM] said, 'Let there
be light'; and there was light."
The story tells us that the ELOHIM found an "unformed and void",
water-covered earth, out of which was formed the whole universe, referred to
as "heaven and earth". How could this be? Only by assuming, as the story
does, that the Sun, Moon and all the stars are tiny lights affixed to the
solid sky dome which is also holding back the "waters above".
The story reflects the primitive cosmography known and held by the ancient
authors."

I thought Elohim was plural. Hence translated literally Gen 1.1 would read:
In the beginning the gods created the heavens and the earth.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, and if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will.

The -im ending is the Hebrew plural.

Hence translated literally Gen 1.1 would read:

Which is why many say that the Hebrew religion wasn't monotheism.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, and if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will.

You're not.

I don't follow you.

- Lot's wife was converted to stone when she looked at the burning

Lot's wife turned into a pillar of salt. Haven't you ever heard the old
gospel standby "Gommorrah"? Even still it's a stretch.

- The description of flood from Bible and from Gilgamesh are almost
"Search and replace" with the same methods of discovering of flood
cease (sending birds from the boat)

Well, plagiarism wasn't prohibited in the 10 Commandments.

- Splitting the Red sea is similar to Neptunes powers with harpoon.

It's a birth metaphor.

- Moses received the laws at the top of mountain by Yahwe. Hammurabi
received laws at the top of mountain by Messopothamian god of sun.

It's funny. You never see Moses and Hammurabi in the same place.

- Jesus had similar fate as Prometheus. Part of gods family,
intermixed with human beings and both were punished to hang on the
hands (on the cross or rock).

And that's not all. There are similarities between the Jesus myth and many
other mythological figures.

- Hell is much influenced by Greek Hades. The Old Testament did not
mention Hell until appearance of Helenism in fourth century BC.
