Sinning Brings Doomsday And AIDS Say Imams

Bandar Seri Begawan - Avoid sins that bring great calamities like AIDS
to oneself and to one's generations, religious leaders cautioned
yesterday at the weekly Friday sermon.
Increase in adultery and homosexual activities brings one closer to
doomsday, they said cautioning against such illicit activities as
calamity and punishment are boundto await if this kind of vice
persists. The spread of death-threatening diseases, increase in
adultery and vice activities are among the minor signs for doomsday
(hereafter), they said.
In a Friday sermon yesterday, the religious leaders stressed that
adultery and homosexual activities are social diseases that bring
destruction to the Ummah. Thus, they need to be avoided. If Allah sends
calamity, it affects both the individual and his/her generations.
Hence, we should distance ourselves and our families from vice
activities.
Allah brings calamity in the form of earthquake, typhoon, drought and
disease such as AIDS, the Imams said.
To date, there is no cure to treat such disease. Since it was first
detected- in California, United States in 1981, AIDS has killed
hundreds of thousands of people. To date, this deadly scourge had
spread to over 160 countries.
Since then, AIDS has become the worst health crisis. It spreads fast
due to adultery, homosexual activity and through contaminated needle
injections used by addicts. Imams said there were ways to avoid
engaging in adultery and homosexual acts such as by getting back to the
right Islamic teachings that forbid all the wrongdoings and encourage
good deeds. It is our responsibility as Muslims to advise our families,
relatives and friends not to engage in such activities that are against
the teachings and laws of Islam. We should not hesitate or be afraid to
criticise those who do such activities carried-out in front of our
eyes, they said.
This is the cause of the spread of AIDS. Strengthening the family
institution is another step where parents and families are responsible
in trying to foster closer family relations in a healthy environment.
It should not be left until the situation worsens before one could act.
Shaping up with good norms and setting a good example as well as taking
closer attention and adequate concerns are also crucial. They are also
the factors to control against any wrong doings. No doubt, outside
influences such as mass media, materialism and peers could easily
poison the minds of an individual. Furthermore, parents should give
enough information on the risk of engaging in such undesirable
activities.
Children are the trust that should be shouldered and upheld upon. Let
us live on the basis of Islam to avoid sin that could bring in calamity

Christianity is the most evil thing ever devised by the mind of man.
While Islam is appalling enough, at least it is "over there," and if western
countries would stop ripping off the Middle East, Islam would never bother
us again. The real threat is christofascism --- it always been the real
threat.

I really think that is over-stating matters. Christianity is certainly
wrong and basically a bad thing, but it deserves a more nuanced judgment.
