Object: Sirach 35: 12-14, 16-18. 10-28-2007.
For he is a God of justice,
who knows no favorites.
Though not unduly partial toward the weak,
yet he hears the cry of the oppressed.
He is not deaf to the wail of the orphan,
nor to the widow when she pours out her complaint;
He who serves God willingly is heard;
his petition reaches the heavens.
The prayer of the lowly pierces the clouds;
it does not rest till it reaches its goal,
Nor will it withdraw till the Most High responds,
judges justly and affirms the right.

Psalm 34: 2-3, 17-19, 23.

In the Dark Ages, the people were led by religion, just as in
the dark of night a blind man is our best guide: he knows the
ins and outs better than those who can see. But it is foolish to
go on using that same old blind man as a guide once the
daylight has come.

The Bible vs The Padre 10-28-2007

For he is a God of justice,

Who twice set up the Egyptians for the slaughter.

who knows no favorites.

Although the Israelis were his "chosen people".

Though not unduly partial toward the weak,
yet he hears the cry of the oppressed.
He is not deaf to the wail of the orphan,
nor to the widow when she pours out her complaint;

All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to
the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that
sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the
sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
-- Ecclesiastes 9:2

He who serves God willingly is heard;

for God is not unrighteous to forget your work and the love which
ye showed toward his name, in that ye ministered unto the saints, and still
do minister.
-- Hebrews 6:10

his petition reaches the heavens.

it does not rest till it reaches its goal,
Nor will it withdraw till the Most High responds,

Have you heard any word from Jesus about those prayers for world peace,
padre?

I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his
creatures, or has a will of the type of which we are conscious
in ourselves. An individual who should survive his physical
death is also beyond my comprehension,... ; such notions are
for the fears or absurd egoism of feeble souls.

To borrow the words of George Carlin, "God doesn't give a *****" about world
peace.

Or anything, for that matter. It's a property of non-existent things,
not giving a *****.
