Object: Skeptics (and people with brains) to protest opening of Creation Museum
http://rallyforreason.arkonuts.com/
A rally and protest is being planned to coincide with the opening of
Answers in Genesis' Creation Museum in Kentucky, on Monday, May 28th
(Memorial Day). While the protest certainly won't shut the museum
down (and why would anyone want that? It's the biggest and best
display of outright stupidity to grace the area in a long time), it
will hopefully get some media coverage. Maybe AiG will do something
stupid, like call the cops to shut the protest down.

Ah, the guilty pleasure of standing up to authority.

Evolution and Creationism, as spirituals guides, both suck.
In one, you are an accident of random chemistry, and in the other you
are playthings of an exterior deity.
Both absolve you of responsibility for your own condition.

and to BEAT them about the head AND shoulders with clown hammers!

Now now - everyone knows "religion" is a trait inherited from primitive
tribes who needed a framework for their existence. The ones who invented
language and used it to concoct creation stories were better adapted for
important tasks such as rote memorization, poetry, socialization, group
structure, remembering which plants will kill you, etc...
Religion evolved!

1) *NO* chemistry is random. Chemicals may get mixed randomly, but
the results are very deterministic.

The strict evolutionist position is random chemical mixing creates life. In
terms of agreeing with that (did you hear me I said "agreeing with
that"??!), I want any alleged gods to be _more_ subtle. Creationists, by
their own words, want them to be _less_ suble!

2) Wearing shoes is also a terrible spiritual guide. As is sewing.

Yet nobody promotes them, or inspires "artificial guilt" in others,
badgering them to prove to their gods they disbelieve the obvious.

Evolution isn't a"spiritual guide", it's the name we give to something
that's been observed, like we name those fluffy things we observe in
the sky "clouds" (which, btw, are also sucky spiritual guides).

Yet we are not all scientists, and pretending we are is reeeally tacky.
And many people (not you or me, understand, but other people) might
sometimes find themselves thinking "I can't do that, because I didn't evolve
to".
Argue for your limitations, and, sure enough, they are yours.

Creationism, otoh, as science, sucks.

Creationism sucks as a spiritual system, too.
