Snoop Dogg is set to take part in a prison rally to
protest against the execution of an ex-gang leader.
Stanley Tookie Williams was given the death penalty
in 1981 for murdering four people in Los Angeles.
He has subsequently earned a number of Nobel Peace
Prize nominations for his hard campaigning to teach
young people to stay out of gangs. He is now awaiting
execution next month. Snoop Dogg’s previous attempt
to visit the San Quentin State Prison in California -
where Williams was sentenced to death - have so far
been denied because of his arrest history. Prison
spokesperson Vernell Crittendon said: “We were
unable to provide him with a security clearance because
of his arrest history,” reports the BBC.
However, the prison are set to review whether Snoop can set foot inside the prison,
making a decision by Friday.
Snoop is set to take part in the rally outside the prison on Saturday (November 19).
Williams’ execution is set to take place on December 13.
