Winter Solstice Celebration V
December 21st, 2003

The Winter Solstice occurs this year on Sunday, December 22nd at 2:04am EST.
This is the point in the Earth's orbit with the shortest amount of sunlight
in the Northern Hemisphere, due to the planet's tilt relative to the plane
of the solar orbit.
Join us for a celebration to observe this very real astronomical event
which impacts our daily lives, as well as to look at the year gone by,
talk with old friends and meet new oness. This year's Solstice Party
will be hosted by the Piedmont Freethought Association, on Sunday,
December 21st- we have a reserved room at the Golden Corral in
Greensboro, NC, at the Wendover Road location:

Directions for those to the East of Greensboro:
Take I-40 West to the Wendover Ave. exit (mile number 214).
At the light, turn left. At the second set of lights (next
to the Courtyard by Marriott hotel), turn right. The
Wendover St. exit is approx. 5 miles east of the I-40/I-85 split.
For those to the West of Greensboro:
Take I-40 East to the Wendover Ave. exit (use exit number
214-A). At the light, turn right. At the first light after
turning (next to the Courtyard by Marriott hotel), turn right.
Once you're in the restaurant complex, turn left at the
first crossroad. Golden Corral is to the right, about 100
yards along the road.
