Some Claiming To Find Truth Are LIARS (and have Ulterior Motives) |
The sad facts of the matter:
* Some of you studied the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses,
* spending many hours in the public library researching the Bible,
* finally arriving at the conclusion it holds THE TRUTH about God,
* making a decision to be publicly BAPTIZED into Christianity,
* promising to respect, serve and worship God for eternity,
* proclaiming to the world that you truly love God.
These are the facts about anyone who represents themselves as one of
Jehovah's Witnesses or who claims they are a former JW.
Think about the above journey any individual must take in evaluating
the postings of ANYONE claiming they are no longer a JW.
Does one study the Bible with a religion, arrive at the conclusion GOD
EXISTS and THE BIBLE WAS INSPIRED BY GOD and actually get baptized
into Christianity if they were not absolutely convinced BEYOND THE
SHADOW OF ANY DOUBT?
Review the above actions every person must take.
Some on this newsgroup attack JWs and the Bible as if they are
admitting to having casually gone through the above steps and LIED in
vowing to serve God. Can you imagine the kind of sociopath that would
* accept God as Universal Sovereign,
* claim to love God to the point of baptism,
* go door to door telling others about the Bible,
and then renounce it all?
We're not talking about those who were stumbled to where they still
believe in God but "are not sure" whether the Watchtower Society is
God's chosen "faithful and discreet slave". These are doctrinal issues
every JW grapples with.
Instead, we are talking about individuals who claim to have gone
through the above steps and have subsequently renounced God. Notice
some posters literally slander God by calling him a "monster".
Although they compare belief in God to believing in "Santa Claus", we
are supposed to believe that at one time they
* opened the door when a JW rang their doorbell,
* invited them into their house,
* accepted a free home Bible study,
* convinced the elders they believed in God beyond any doubt,
* vowed they loved God and wished to spend eternity with Him,
* attended a Watchtower convention,
* affirmed their vows again,
* changed clothing into a swimming suit,
* stepped into a steaming pool of water,
* allowed someone to lower them under the water momentarily,
* started weeping with tears of joy as they emerged,
* attended regular meetings,
* went door to door convincing their neighbors the BIBLE IS TRUE.
Now we are supposed to believe they suddenly compare God to "Santa
Claus" and quote the Hebrew scriptures out of context to falsely
accuse God of "murder" and "mayhem"? Could someone filled with so much
hatred for God have possibly taken the above journey?
Suppose the alt.religion.jehovahs-witn newsgroup and other newsgroups
are being USED BY MEMBERS OF VARIOUS ATHEIST ORGANIZATIONS who have
latched onto JWs because of the Bible is the cornerstone of their
lives? Suppose some people are masquerading as ex-JWs, hoping we will
overlook the depth of the above steps in contradiction to their anti-
Bible message? Suppose JWs are simply being used as a platform for an
anti-Bible agenda that spans through Christendom?
One can doubt, stumble, fall down. Examine postings in the context of
the above journey one must haven taken to become a Christian and where
their faith may have faltered. You will then realize that some
personalities on these newsgroups are manufactured because they could
not possibly have gone from opening the door to a JW . . . (above
steps) . . . to hate-filled postings literally slandering God, the
Bible and even the moral foundation where the Bible solidly rests.
Some posters are lying to us, friends, and we need to recognize these
posts and killfile them. If you can't see their posts, you render them
impotent. They will get tired of typing, hitting SEND and realizing
nobody sees what they wrote.

Anybody notice the high horse witnesses place themselves upon every
time they degrade themselves to talk to us mortals? It's word use like
valide, who's deserving of what etc, that makes them sound like they're
Jesus Christ or allmighty God himself. Who can render these kind of puffed
up morons a label of a humble christian? Not me.

Oh, I'm certainly not saying that I think fundamentalists -

I'm saying that (to judge from his Usenet performance, at least)
this "nobody" character seems to lack the necessary imagination
to weigh foreign beliefs reasonably. He has memorized certain
biased claims about other systems, yes, but that's not the same
as being mentally flexible enough to ponder what a person who
holds alien ideas actually thinks about the world.
Specifically, he cannot understand how a person emotionally
invested in a belief ("God is sovereign," or "My girlfriend and
I have a perfect, mutually respectful, loving relationship") can
change his mind based on exterior considerations ("Outside these
circular dogmas we chant each week, there's really no evidence
for God at all," or "My girlfriend was photographed making love
