Object: something to think about...
i am looking at standing in the next general election in the UK in
2006
would you be prepared to move to my constituency of Blackburn
just to be able to keep me out of office ?
i will be standing against Jack Straw, current Foreign Secretary
and i will be standing as an independent, most likely
it could be that i get my wish of England becoming a Republic
and so having a Presidential Election like the USA
and there is no telling what could be done by a President
of England, the Greatest country in the World

In my first week I will have the current monarch replaced by me, declare the
territory of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to be
a continent, the national anthem will be replaced by "Revol" by the Manic
Street Preachers and the Football League will be legally required to have
Carlisle United as a member.
In week two the people of the UK will be asked to donate a few matchsticks
each which will be used to build a tower to the Moon. By week five we will
have thousands of Helium3 mines on the moon with the Helium3 being shipped
to the UK by toy trains pulled by genetically modified rats.
The wealth generated by the Helium3 will, by the tenth week of my rule,
result in the UK being richer than the rest of the world.
From week eleven this wealth will be used to build a reliable and fair
priced railway, a proper railway, not one using rats to pull carriages.

Won't you get it dirty?

would you be prepared to move to my constituency of Blackburn

Yeah, sure, soon as I figure how to retroactively become a British
citizen.

i will be standing against Jack Straw, current Foreign Secretary and i
will be standing as an independent, most likely

I bet Straw is panicking even now.

it could be that i get my wish of England becoming a Republic and so
having a Presidential Election like the USA

What on earth for?

and there is no telling what could be done by a President of England,

Um... he could mislead the public and take them into an unnecessary war?

The money you'd lose would be better spent on treatment.

would you be prepared to move to my constituency of Blackburn

I think the Monster Raving Loony party would get more votes than you,
and I'm happy remaining a soft southerner.

i will be standing against Jack Straw, current Foreign Secretary

Depending on the Iraq fallout, he may not even be in parliament come
2006.

I want a republic too, but there's no way people are going to vote for a
religious fanatic undergoing treatment for mental health problems.

Surely at least the Welsh and the Scottish would have something to say

i am looking at standing in the next general election in the UK in
2006

would you be prepared to move to my constituency of Blackburn
just to be able to keep me out of office ?

Sorry, Babe, but it would take a bit more than that to make me move out of the
US (not that I'm not often tempted though) ;)

Lo, many moons past, on Wed, 28 Jan 2004 01:45:04 +0000 (UTC), a
stranger called by some Damian John Paul Brown <damian@phpexpert.org>
came forth and told this tale in alt.atheism

i am looking at standing in the next general election in the UK in
2006

Ah, British politics.. almost as crazy as San Francisco politics. (We
had a cartoon raven run for mayor several years back in a,ocal comic
strip. The campaign slogan? "Give City Hall the Bird!" People
actually voted for it.)

would you be prepared to move to my constituency of Blackburn
just to be able to keep me out of office ?

Considering I'm a happy American citizen who owns firearms, no.

i will be standing against Jack Straw, current Foreign Secretary
and i will be standing as an independent, most likely

And you will get creamed in a landslide.

it could be that i get my wish of England becoming a Republic
and so having a Presidential Election like the USA

Why in the Hell would you want that?

and there is no telling what could be done by a President
of England, the Greatest country in the World

It *was* the greatest country on Earth, about a century ago. No
longer.

Wouldn't do any good - I'm not qualified to vote in the UK.

True ... you could have a president suck Bush's ***** instead of having
a PM do it.

Out of a job? On the dole? Seems you haven't much to do.

Not really. I think every loony has the right to run for office. Pity
some get elected... In America a clown got appointed that way.

i will be standing against Jack Straw, current Foreign Secretary
and i will be standing as an independent, most likely

And loose, most certainly.

it could be that i get my wish of England becoming a Republic
and so having a Presidential Election like the USA

Then again, it might not. But who knows... President Charles?

Not quite. Chattam is the greatest city in the greatest country. :-)
Remember Chattam? :-D
