LOUISVILLE (WAVE) -- We have more on a WAVE 3 investigation we first
told you about Thursday. Two local high school football coaches have
been indicted on criminal fraud charges. Both men coach football at
Christian Academy of Louisville and if convicted could spend up to
five years in prison. WAVE 3's Scott Harvey spoke to the investigator
who discovered the alleged fraud.
Officials tell me it was a routine audit by Kentucky Employers' Mutual
Insurance -- or KEMI -- that raised the red flag. Daniel English and
his brother Thomas English, are accused of defrauding the workers comp
insurance provider out of $250,000. Investigators tell WAVE 3 that
Daniel and Thomas English own two framing companies. Officials say
evidence shows the men only paid for state workers comp insurance for
the smaller company while most of their employees were listed to work
for the bigger one. According to court records, when an employee from
the larger company would get hurt, they would switch the name of the
worker to the smaller company.
