Jason Zetino, 18, of Fremont pleaded guilty to second-degree forgery,
a Class IV felony, and criminal possession of a forged instrument, a
Class I misdemeanor. In exchange for his plea, two identical counts of
second-degree forgery and one count of unauthorized use of a financial
transaction device, a Class III felony, were dismissed.
Zetino is accused of stealing three checks from Centro Ministrio
Christiano church and forging the signature of his father, the church
treasurer. Zetino wrote the checks out to himself and surveillance
video shows him cashing them at First State Bank in June and July. He
said he used most of the money when he ran away with a girlfriend.
