Seminarian pleads guilty to weapons, impersonation charges

In an agreement approved by Judge Victoria Rossetti, Rowlands pleaded
guilty to attempted false impersonation of a police officer and
unlawful use of a weapon. Both charges are misdemeanors that carry
maximum sentences of 1 year in jail. Three felony charges were
dropped.
Rowlands agreed to resign as chaplain of the Westerville Police
Department in Ohio, Willett said. He also will surrender a certificate
that he earned by graduating from an Ohio police academy and all
police equipment found in his car. In addition, his car will be
forfeited to Mundelein police.
Officials have said Rowlands was involved in a public corruption
scandal when he worked as a captain for the Fairfield County Sheriff's
Department in Ohio. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and resigned in
2001.
