A Sandy husband and wife accused of causing a "swath of destruction"
in their victims' lives were sentenced Tuesday to prison terms for tax
crimes.
U.S. District Judge David Sam imposed a sentence of 41 months on Diane
Christensen and of 37 months on Steven Christensen. Restitution for
the loss of tax money caused by their actions is to be determined
later.

Minutes before Sam handed down the sentence, Browning told him that
his bank's loss almost caused it to go under and that the Christensens
used ill-gotten gains to live an opulent lifestyle. He added he was
thankful to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for
voluntarily returning stolen money it received from the Christensens.
