Object: South Carolina to secede from the Union ?

We've heard for a long time that anyone who isn't conservative or
Republican is un-American or a traitor. Well, look what the cat dragged
home--ChristianExodus.org. These folks want to move to South Carolina
because 20 per cent of population there would like to secede from the
U.S. This is the ultimate goal of the this group: set up a Christian
theocracy in South Carolina and secede from the Union.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
".........a group of Christian activists........."
How many people are in this group ?
It's probably only enough to fill one pew in the local church.
20% of population in South Carolina would like to secede form the U.S. ?
I would be surprised if it were as much as 20%
It's probably only 5%
Has anybody bothered to inform the South Carolina politicians in Washington ?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The truth is these neo-Confederate people are traitors and need to be
investigated immediately by the Justice department. The right to secede
form the Union was negated during the Civil War. This group poses a
danger to United States of America and its leaders should be arrested
immediately.

These people don't love America, they want to leave it.

Same-sex marriage called last straw prompting plan for 1 state to secede

One less star?

Calling the approval of same-sex marriage in Massachusetts "the straw
that broke the camel's back," a group of Christian activists is in the

beginning stages of an effort to have one state secede from the United
States to become its own sovereign nation.

"Our Christian republic has declined into a pagan democracy," says Cory
Burnell, president of ChristianExodus.org, a non-profit corporation
based in Tyler, Texas. "There are some issues people just can't take
anymore, and [same-sex marriage] might finally wake up the complacent
Christians."

Burnell is leading the charge for a peaceful secession of one state from
the union, and after originally considering Alabama, Mississippi and
South Carolina due to their relatively small populations, coastal
access, and the Christian nature of the electorate, Burnell says South
Carolina has been selected as the target location.

This is this groups's position statment.

Our Intention:

ChristianExodus.org is an association of Christians who no longer wish
to live under the unjust usurpation of powers by the federal government,
and therefore resolves to formally disassociate itself from this
tyrannical authority, and return to the model of governance of a
constitutional republic. We seek a republican government constrained by
constitutionally delegated powers. If this cannot be achieved within the
United States, then we believe a peaceful withdrawal from the union to
be the last available remedy.

Constitutional reforms:

ChristianExodus.org seeks to include many of our positions in a new
constitution in South Carolina. For example, some constitutional
guarantees ought to include the protection of human life at conception,
the Ten Commandments as the foundation of law, the prohibition of any
redefinition of marriage, and a strong reserve clause (reservation of
undelegated powers to local government).

The US Constitution:

ChristianExodus.org believes that the primary intent and purpose of the
US Constitution is to delegate specific and limited powers to the
Federal government. We believe that the first ten amendments, known as
the Bill of Rights, are restrictions on the power of the Federal
government. We hold that all powers not specifically delegated to the
Federal Government in the Constitution belong to the States or the
People respectively.

Purpose of government:

ChristianExodus.org believes government exists to protect the rights and
property of its citizens. Rights are granted by God and may not be taken
away by government. However, government may establish and regulate
privileges. There is tremendous confusion today about the difference in
rights and privileges. A simple distinction can be made by asking
oneself the question, "Is what I seek guaranteed to me by my Creator?"
Some examples of rights include: life, liberty, pursuit of happiness,
defense of private property, self-defense (bear arms), religious belief,
etc. Some examples of privileges, often misinterpreted as rights,
include: public education, health care, public housing, public
transportation, voting, etc. Privileges should be granted on a fair and
uniform basis with discrimination based upon circumstances individuals
can change; no discrimination should exist based upon God-given traits
received at birth.

ChristianExodus.org believes government may regulate behavior so long as
the regulation does not violate unalienable rights of citizens.
Legislation outlawing certain behaviors must reflect the will and values
of the majority of the governed. It is within the unalienable rights of
every community to define a set of behaviors that may be considered
detrimental, unhealthy, unsafe, criminal, and undesirable for the
community. To deny a community the right to govern such behaviors and
reflect the values of the majority of its citizens is to impose
tyrannical oppression on the community and deny its fundamental rights.

Government does not exist to redistribute wealth, to create means of
production, to usurp the authority of the family, or to regulate the
church. Moreover, the state's authority is subservient to the Creator's
authority, and when in conflict, government must adjust its position to
conform to God's natural law. This authority structure is imperative
because should the state be considered supreme, our rights are no longer
secure.

Status of government in America:

Americans have lost the ability to distinguish rights from privileges.
American government routinely taxes the private property of producers
and redistributes the revenue to individuals who have not earned it. Our
federal government does not allow protection of the unalienable right to
life of Americans in their mothers' wombs. American courts routinely
violate the unalienable rights of individuals and communities to express
their religious beliefs. The state of Massachusetts flagrantly declares
that its authority is supreme to the Creator's when it redefines the
God-ordained institution of marriage.

The United States government commonly denies unalienable rights to its
citizens. In doing so, it violates its place of authority under God.
Furthermore, the federal government is in perpetual violation of the
U.S. Constitution. The U.S. Supreme Court's creation of a constitutional
prohibition against government "endorsement" of religious belief
brazenly disregards the text of the 1st Amendment which clearly
restricts only the legislature from making a law "establishing" a state
religion. Likewise, rulings such as Roe v. Wade and Lawrence v. Texas
created previously non-existent rights that are in direct violation of
natural law. The existence of a federal department of education, federal
gun laws, FCC regulation of intrastate communication, Medicare, Social
Security, and federal welfare payments are further violations of the
10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which reserves these powers to
the States. The constitutional abuses of our federal government are so
numerous that volumes can be written about them.

Intentions for government:

ChristianExodus.org seeks a decentralized, confederated government where
the majority of power rests with local municipalities. Decentralized,
local power enables the electorate to correct abuses quickly and
inexpensively. It offers access to justice for even the least privileged
in society. It secures the rights of the minority and the majority
alike. Local government offers people choices and variety by way of easy
relocation to a nearby community more in tune with their beliefs.
Decentralized power promotes competition between communities that desire
to attract new residents. That government is best which governs least
and resides closest to the people.

Religious freedom:

At no time in American jurisprudence has religious persecution been
acceptable. Nor does ChristianExodus.org believe any tenets of the
Christian faith promote persecution of other faiths. Our organization
stands decidedly in favor of religious freedom and liberty for all human
beings so long as their religious behaviors do not violate the God-given
rights of others. Again, ChristianExodus.org will not support any
efforts on the part of government to violate the unalienable right to
freedom of religious belief. People of all faiths must have the same
rights and freedoms guaranteed to them under law.

Religious participation in ChristianExodus.org:

ChristianExodus.org is an organization for committed Christians. Please
see our Statement of Faith for further clarification. While
ChristianExodus.org does not desire to exclude anyone from moving to or
living in South Carolina, we do expect that members of our organization
agree with our Statement of Faith.

Racial and nationality discrimination:

ChristianExodus.org demands that all races be treated equally as
children of God. All people originate from the same Creator and are
therefore equal in His sight, and must be treated equally before the
law. ChristianExodus.org will not tolerate any racial hatred or
discrimination by its members. Additionally, once in South Carolina,
ChristianExodus.org members will work to ensure equal access to and
treatment before the law for all God's people irrespective of color or
national origin.

Abortion:

ChristianExodus.org believes human life begins at conception and from
that moment the law must protect each individual's right to life.
Therefore, the United States' federal government neglects its
responsibility to protect the unalienable right to life, and denies the
right of sovereign states of the union to protect life.

Homosexuality:

ChristianExodus.org recognizes that homosexuality is an unhealthy,
unsafe, detrimental behavior that affects all citizens in a community,
not just the participants. Additionally, sexual conduct outside the
bonds of marriage is not a God-given right. Therefore, homosexual
activity is a behavior that a state may regulate and legislate against.

Religious displays in public:

Communities have a right to express values consistent with the majority
of their citizens. This includes the public display of religious symbols
such as crosses and the Ten Commandments. This communal right rests upon
freedom of religious exercise and freedom of speech. However, there is
no right to freedom from exposure to religious expression. To suggest
otherwise would automatically negate and violate the unalienable rights
of religious freedom and free speech. In other words, a religious
minority in a community does not have a right to deny religious
expression to the majority. As with all other communal decisions, the
values and expressions of a community will inevitably result from
popular will at the ballot box. If a religious minority does not like
the decisions made by the majority, they may either relocate to another
community or attempt to change the minds of the electorate and become
the majority.

Education:

It is the responsibility of parents to train up their children in the
way they should go. The ultimate success or failure to educate children
rests with parents. A community has the right to establish public
schools to educate its children. Local control of education is
paramount. Funding of local schools should come exclusively from local
revenue. The local community alone should generate the policies and
values expressed in schools.

ChristianExodus.org prefers the privatization of education whether in
the form of private schools or home schooling because public
administration is far less efficient.

Theology:

ChristianExodus.org recognizes that a great number of religious faiths
exist and a variation of doctrine occurs within Christianity. We have
attempted to narrow our focus to the most essential and accepted
doctrines of the Christian faith. The official theological position of
our organization can be viewed in our Statement of Faith.

Public relations:

We seek to promote our organization through all forms of media. It is
essential that a consistent message be generated in the press.
Consequently, ChristianExodus.org will designate only one spokesperson
at each public event. A press release should always accompany the
spokesperson. Unless otherwise designated as described above, all media
inquiries should be directed to

or the president.

Structure of ChristianExodus.org:

ChristianExodus.org is a non-profit corporation in the state of Texas.
It has not filed for 501c status. Legal opinion suggests that it does
not qualify for 501(c)(3) tax exemption due to political activity.
ChristianExodus.org consists of a Board of Directors that operates under
the guidelines of the corporation's charter and bylaws. The organization
has no paid staff at this time.

Strategy:

ChristianExodus.org intends to move thousands of Christian
constitutionalists to the sovereign state of South Carolina in multiple
phases of 12,000. Our research team will choose specific state
legislative districts and encourage our members to relocate to them.
Further details can be found on our Plan of Action page.

Interests of minority in South Carolina:

If secession is effected in South Carolina, there will be a minority of
unionists in the state. The under girding principle in a representative
form of government is that majority rules. It then becomes the
responsibility of the minority to relocate or change the policies of the
state through the ballot box. It would be a great injustice to suggest
that the preference of the minority ought to prevail over that of the
majority.

Citizenship:

ChristianExodus.org holds that citizenship is the primacy of the States.
The founders and drafters of the Constitution, including the Federalist
Papers, made little mention of the notion of "nation" as they referenced
the Union of States that was to result from the ratification of that
document. The various States enjoyed and exercised the right to regulate
naturalization and immigration during the colonial period, under the
Articles of Confederation and under the Constitution until 1875.
Historically, "The People" as described in The Declaration of
Independence and The Constitution have associated their citizenship as
resting primarily in their State. The concept of State residence and US
citizenship is a relatively new concept and one that is foreign to the
original intent of the compact of States.

Religious tests for citizenship:

ChristianExodus.org does not desire the establishment of a theocracy
where religious tests are required for citizenship. Also see our
position on religious freedom above.

Immigration:

We hold that the power to enact uniform naturalization rules rests with
Congress as specified in Article 8 of The Constitution. We also believe
that the various States retain the right to restrict and control
immigration into the State as had been exercised under the Union until
1875. No person residing in a State contrary to the laws and regulations
of that State attains the expectation of rights, privileges or
immunities held by citizens.

The 14th Amendment:

ChristianExodus.org holds that the 14th Amendment was enacted rather
than being properly ratified. The history of this amendment is fraught
with scandal and unscrupulous actions. The Amendment was properly voted
on and properly rejected; only after the dissenting states were not
allowed a vote was the Amendment passed.

This fraudulent act redefined the Federal government and its
relationship to "The People". We hold that it is the right of the
various States to nullify this Amendment and all laws and court rulings
arising from it.

16th Amendment:

We hold that the various States should repeal the 16th Amendment, which
grants Congress the power to directly tax the people. Direct taxation of
the people is contrary to the original intent of the Union and deprives
the States of a powerful check on federal excess.

17th Amendment:

We hold that the various States should repeal the 17th Amendment, which
provides for the direct election of Senators. The manner in which
Senators are elected or selected is a matter that should be left to the
States as the original Constitution intended. Direct elections have
resulted in a marked reduction in the power of the States to influence
Federal actions and policies.
