Southern Baptist Convention has split with the Baptist World Alliance |
http://www.abc.net.au/rn/talks/8.30/relrpt/stories/s1137513.htm
The powerful and conservative Southern Baptist Convention has split
with the Baptist World Alliance, claiming it has been moving too far
to the Left. We speak to prominent liberal Baptist pastor Tony
Campolo, spiritual adviser to former US President Bill Clinton.

Sounds like a reassertion of why they split off in 1845. They believed that
northern Baptists were far too "liberal" because they opposed slavery, which
the bible supports.

Those idiots do nothing but tarnish the southern states. There's
really no wonder that my favorite assocaitions are always from the
north or west.

I'm surprised to see Tony Campolo in the "liberal" camp... I guess
those terms are relative, he probably is liberal *for a Baptist*.

Let's not forget about the Regular Baptists (who I had the honor to
interact with during my formative college years - by my own choice -
yes I was much stupider when I was younger).
We don't go with baptists who drink, smoke, or chew or baptists that
know baptists who do.
My personal fave, though, are the Primitive Baptists. I like the
bald-faced honesty of it. Yes, we have primitive beliefs and don't
have any business being in modern society. There's actually a
primitive baptist church in my town. Scary.
I'm all better now, thank you.
Yeah, me too.

We have one in Topeka as well, with our very own Fred Phelps in charge.
