Still Think AWOL's Budget Deficit Does Not Matter? |
Econ 101.
The reason why the dollar is tanking right now is because institutioal
bankers in Asia (aka our financial overlords) have decided they don't
want to buy our t-bills anymore. You know, the t-bills we sell en
masse so as to finance AWOL's mammoth ntional debt? Less foreign
demand for the dollar means that dollar depreciates against the
foreign currency.
And lest you think you won't be affected because you buy chicken
breasts from Arkansas consider this: OPEC is denominated in Euro and
all the junks you buy at Walmart is made in China. Addtionally, if the
demand for t-bills remain slack, the interest rate of T-bills will go
up, choking off private investment.
But of course the important thing is that gay people can't get married
and we get to kill a bunch of babies from a country that has nothing
to do with 911.

I believe you've got it backwards.
They won't but the t-bills because, with Bush's devaluation of
the currency, they would actually lose money.
The interest paid on a t-bill isn't enough to make up for the loss
in value of the dollar.
Seriously.
If you convert your dollars to Euros and place them in
an interest-free European account, you'll see a better return
on your "investment" that t-bills.
The dollar was worth slightly more than a Euro when Bush
first stole office in 2000, and today one Euro is worth
slightly more than $1.30.
That's more than a 30% return on your dollar WITHOUT A
SINGLE DIME IN INTEREST.

Adam Smith was a very wise man, he would shake his head in horrow if he
saw how the rich fail to see their position in society as one of
responsibility rather than the current situation where by these people
are simply driven by the lust of money.
