Did they compare the same demographic in the US population - between
18 - 30? Most people don't make the military a carerr, they sign up
for a term to pay for education or to get some experience and then go
on. Isn't there a tendency to become religous in your later years?

It is possible that the author (who I assume is Star Fleet Battles creator and
former military intelligence officer Steve Cole, who published an intelligence
newsletter called "For Your Eyes Only" [FYEO] back in the 80s and is listed as
a senior editor on the website) did not have access to the data. His figures
are very similar to what we're seeing at www.adherents.com from the ARIS 2001
survey. To my knowledge, that survey did not do detailed breakdown by age.
Still, I'm certain that it must frighten the neo-cons that the military is 34%
atheist.

I'm too old, yang boy. By your own words, you rather somebody else lose a leg than you.
Relevance?
It is not cowardice, to wish to avoid suffering, or to wish to
survive, and it is perfectly natural to be afraid.
None of these things denote a coward.
While none of us, that I know of, would wish suffering on another, all
of us, who are honest with our selves, would look at *almost* any
injury, and think, "Rather him than me".
Your arguments are dishonest, if not the words, then the implication.
I joined the army as a volunteer. There was no chance of me being
called up, I was not a British subject.
I had no wish to get shot at, or take, what I considered to be,
unnecessary risks, and the Catering Corp, best fitted my needs.
I required citizenship, joining the army would give me that.
Unfortunately, the army decided, in it's infinite wisdom, that I had
certain natural aptitudes, and I wound up, a Sapper, Airborne, via the
infantry.
The first person that I saw killed, happened to be a friend.
We had been through training together, basic, para, and some of the
more specialised training that the army gives.
I had been to his home, on leave, met his family, and he had been with
me, to my girl friend's home, and met her family, the only family I
had/have.
When he got shot, the first thought that went through my mind was that
I was lucky, two more paces, and it would have been me.
Oh yea, I damn near ***** my self, literally.
Does that make me a coward?
Well it probably does, because it took me three years to bring my self
to visit his parents, and tell them what happened, and in all that
time, the only letter I wrote to them was the one to tell them that
he was dead.
Not the official one, that was the CO's job, a personal one.
I was afraid to face them, and like a coward, I told my self that
visiting them, and telling what had happened, would only make it more
painful for them, and used that as an excuse to avoid doing my duty as
a friend.
The truth was that I could not face them, the shame of knowing my own
thoughts at the time, was more than I could handle.
Like your army, such duties are voluntary, and I didn't rush to
volunteer.
If you have been there, you should know what I am talking about.
If you haven't been there, then you have no right to comment on
another man's courage, or lack of it.
If you have been there, and do not know what I am talking about, then
I pity you.

Hey, mikey, why do you and yang boy not admit your real names, where you

My real name is Mike Painter, where I live is easily determnined in several
trivial ways including the way we determined where you live.
I graduated with a degree in computer science from CSUC Chico. That was a
gift from one of my profs as the department was not actually in place yet.
You've called me a lier for saying I attended CAtholic high school and
elementary school.
An additional support for your cowardness is that you are afraid to accept a
wager which would gain you a considerable sum of money if you had the
courage of your convictions (didn't *know* you were lieing).
I hold that information private in the vain hope that some day you will
admit you lied or put your money where your mouth is.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, mikey - so why don't you admit to your real name, where you live, and

No, I didn't call you a liar. You just don't demonstrate such a background.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, mikey - so why don't you admit to your real name, where
you live, and
where you went to school?
You've called me a lier for saying I attended CAtholic high school and
elementary school.
No, I didn't call you a liar. You just don't demonstrate such a

An additional support for your cowardness is that you are afraid to
accept a
wager which would gain you a considerable sum of money if you had the
courage of your convictions (didn't *know* you were lieing).
You won't discuss the wager details. How do we assemble the money,
determine who's right,
who holds the money, etc.
I did it several times. Your priest holds the money, he decides who is right
and when he tells me he has your certified check or cash available I give
him the information needed.
You are a coward.
I hold that information private in the vain hope that some day you will
admit you lied or put your money where your mouth is.
See what I mean. I guess your buddy, the pink unicorn, will take care of
the details.
Worse yet he rarely admits error, even when all show him wrong.
Why should I admit a mistake when I'm not mistaken?
Not the point but you know that.
It's EXACTLY the point. And you hate it.

I realize that the concept of the US mail is foreign to you but that is one

As for the second question, your lack of thought and trust is apparent.
I am *NOT* going to certify that the information is true. That is not my

I expect you will never do anything but ask questions and deny, you are a

Earl claims to be an engineer.
To someone not trained as such a statement that claims the lungs are "an
oxygen transfer system " might just be based on ignorance. Usually a person
would correct and admit to their error.
Earl does not do this and as an "engineer" should know the difference
between a transfer system and an exchange system. As an alleged university
graduate (but he fears giving out the name of the institution because of
what I might do.) he should be aware that "The lungs are not an oxygen
transfer system, they are a gas exchange system. The blood does the
transfer. If they just exchanged oxygen life would not exist as we know it.
They exchange all gasses, which is an example of crappy design. They should
just exchange CO2 and O2 blocking the rest."
By now he should also be aware of the difference between opinion and
evidence.
So he lies every time he says he does not lie.

Now mikey, you need to think outside the box. A system is defined as any interaction of 2
or more things. In this case, we have 3 - air, blood, and the method of transfer. Of
course there are other items in there, but you get the point.
Earl does not do this and as an "engineer" should know the difference

Ah, the immature's need for perfection in verbiage. Mikey can't possibly understand.
The blood does the transfer.
??? The blood transfers the oxygen to the .........what? The body parts of course. But
what are you talking about?
If they just exchanged oxygen life would not exist as we know it.
They exchange all gasses, which is an example of crappy design. They should

Hey, you are an emt trainee wannabe. Are you saying that all gases in the air do not play
a part in life.
By now he should also be aware of the difference between opinion and

Yet I'm the one that does. Facts produce evidence that commits opinion.
So he lies every time he says he does not lie.
