.....and yet those who favor abortion have the audacity to call themselves
"pro-woman". The evidence is plain for all to see who exactly is and isn't
pro-woman. Killing baby girls by the millions does not qualify one to be an
allie.
http://www.lifenews.com/nat2516.html
Beijing, China (LifeNews.com) -- A new study has confirmed what observers of
China's family planning policies have suspected for years. By forcing women
to have abortions, sterilizing them and targeting them and their families
for persecution has caused a severe gender imbalance that's resulted in
sexually exploiting women, higher crimes and other social concerns.
Conducted by Qu Jian Ding of the Institute of Population Studies at Zhejiang
University and Therese Hesketh of London's Institute of Child Health, the
study finds men in the Asian nation overwhelmingly outnumber women.
The pair relied on data from 40,000 women and found that the birth rate
dropped from 2.9 children before China enacted its one-child family planning
policy in 1979.
The study found women above the age of 35 have 1.94 children and women under
the age of 35 have 1.73 children. Both rates are below replacement level for
a nation to sustain its population.
According to a Reuters report, the pair's study found that the male-female
gender imbalance moved from 1.11 in 1980-89 to 1.23 in 1996-2001.
The findings also confirm that sex-selection abortions and infanticides have
been used to generate boy babies since Chinese culture, especially in rural
areas, favors boys over girls.

When did China clain that their one child policy was 'pro woman'? The whole
sorry mess led to all sorts of social peculiarities, the imbalance of the
sexes being only one. The policy was introduced to reduce the number of
children growing up in poverty, and to reduce the population to something
closer to that which the economy could support. Of course, with China's
sudden emergence as an economic superpower, this has meant a shortage of
skills, and an influx of foreign workers and foreign ideas. But never was it
suggested that the policy had anything to do with China's administration
being 'pro woman'.
The policy ran long enough for families to have grandparents but no aunts
and uncles, no cousins. It also led to some of the most cosseted and spoilt
children on this planet, with many of them being treated like royalty by
doting parents.
The result has been more than one generation of young adults who had never
been refused anything in their lives suddenly coming into the workplace and
finding reality was a little harsher than home life.

No one "favors abortion". We favor letting the people decide for
themselves. Hence the espression "pro-choice"...
have the audacity to call themselves

Are you comparing China with the Western world?

So the Chinese are bad and the Koreans good because more than
half of Koreans are xians? Never mind the fact that they are

There are at least 113 men for every 100 women in Korea,
one of the highest gender imbalances in the world which,
according to sociologists has profound social implications.
A shortage of wives perhaps is the most obvious of these,
but more alarming is the willingness of many Korean women
to abort female fetuses in pursuit of a son.

More than half of Korean wives have experienced an abortion
and about one third have had two or more according to
surveys. The abortion rate among young married and single
women is accelerating sharply in very recent years as well.
Regular abortion seems to have become accepted cultural
behavior in modern Korea.

Our brother-in-Christ youngpenis is deliberately conflating two issues.
1) Is abortion morally OK in general and 2) Is abortion going to
cause problems in cultures with a powerful preference for male children
by creating a gender imbalance. Besides China and Korea, India is
having a big problem too. One solution is to try to reduce the need
for abortion by improving access to and cultural inclination to use
birth control. But youngpenis doubtless doesn't like birth control

I deliberately mentioned Korea but not India, even though I knew
about the problem, because India aborts females for a different
reason: illegal dowries. Both China and Korea are confucianist
and "think" males are better.
Japan is also confucianist, but they have a superstition about
the "souls" of aborted feotuses turning into tormented ghosts,
wandering the Earth looking for their mothers. (Despite Japan's
casualness about sex, they have a low teen pregnancy rate.)
Koreans believe the same superstition as the Japanese, but they
have the abortions anyway.

http://www.teenpregnancy.org/whycare/sowhat.asp
The U.S. still leads the fully industrialized world in teen
pregnancy and birth rates...more than ten times that of
Japan.
Isn't it funny that the non-xian Japanese have a lower abortion
rate than most all industrialized "xian" countries, and "godless
and atheistic" Netherlands has the lowest abortion rate?

If you've forgotten or never heard, Shrub *increased* the number

Given that the countries in question already have a preference
for males, the unnatural gender ratio could make things worse.
Abuse and controlling behaviours (women becomeing chattel again)
are quite possible. In some cases, mail-order and foreign
brides might be used to alleviate the problem, and prostitution
could become a bigger problem despite the shortage of women.
