stumper... a bot?? |
Okay, seriously. stumper is ridiculous.
I'm new here, so I'm just wondering, is he always like this, with the
incessant inane questions that don't do anything for the discussion?
Ever consider the possibility that he's some sort of automated bot?

I was having the same suspicions myself- ther's no real substance to the
post - just mindless and repetitive questions.
Maybe the designers are going for the chat bot reward
One way to find out would be to go back to the original posts and see if
there is some kind of developement as the posts progress.

I doubt it.
I'd give the hypothesis a probability of no more than 0.1%
I am pretty much "up on" what is happen in the world of artificial

result of deliberate programming.
His reactions to perceived threats are just a tad too real.

So: Do you consider yourself a Robot? :)
Actually some people think, that if human beings do not have a soul,

At best,
we might be able to manufacture human brains.
On the other hand,
God might be just a society of human faiths.
That other hand I am pretty sure of.
Although I have some special theories about the Christian God.
1. JHWH might originally be the Decalogue referring to itself.
"I am" or "I will be" would then mean "this law will be".
2. The main aspect of the Christian God is not that of a Creator.
but that of a conscience. God might be a personification
of human conscience. It is no coincidence that Christians
think morality depends on their God.
To get back on topic:
To be sure, programs can't replace brains.
Brains are mostly hard-ware!
but the possiblity that a computer might be programmed
to act in ways a human being would,
is not so far out.
However the question I was asking was more philosophilcal.
Is a human being anything more than a Robot?
I forget to ask the seconds question:
Why (or why not).
Any thoughts?

Bear with me, I'm going to quote from the Bible, Matthew 5:11-12 :
"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you,
and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad: for great is your reward in
Heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."
Here you can see what motivates some Christians to become assholes.
They need to ***** people off, to provoke angry responses, so
they can feel "persecuted": it reassures them that their ticket
to Heaven is valid. If they were as confident of their ultimate
destination as they pretend to be, they wouldn't do this.

by anything we say to him. He needs treatment.
They're not that stupid. They know they're "reviled" for being
in-your-face jerks.

Many of them think Pascal's wager is a valid argument for the
existence of God.

I don't think they do. It's just a smugly stupid attempt to get the
last word.

He is actually quite unwell. He's obsessed with being hated to the

attitude. He isn't discussing anything, and he isn't going to be cured

I agree.

Take a look at his posting history in the tao/zen forums from which he
came. Simply put, he's just not much brighter than a bot...

A paradigm shift is necessary.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradigm_shift
I don't think most of atheists here
would be able to make it.
See you guys in about a week then.
God is better handle by social science
than by natural science.
My working hypothesis for this week is this:
God is our world government in exile.
If you wanna know whether it even exists,
you can use the same scientific method
you would use to establish that your government exists.
