Supervolcano |
I watched "Supervolcano" on Discovery Channel last night. It is a
dramatization of what might happen if the volcano that is Yellowstone Park
were to erupt. They didn't go into much detail about the mass starvation
that would follow worldwide if the central plains of the USA were buried
in volcanic ash.
And here I used to think that an East Coast tsunami would be cool....

Wait! At the same time, an asteroid could hit the Pacific!
(I mean, if we're gonna do the end of the world, let's do a real
spectacular)

Ok, but the asteroid has to hit all the "raptured" xians as they rise to
the heavens and knock them back down to die from the "trinity" described
above. But that's it. Add anything else and the story becomes simply
*unbelievable*.

I watched it too. I thought it was poorly done and avoided the hard
science about mass extinction. They made it look like we had a 'few'
bad months and everything was fine. What crap!
When Yellowstone goes, and it will, we're all fucked.
