Isernio to Plead to More Charges
By Robert E. Kessler
Staff Writer
January 26, 2004, 9:23 PM EST
Albert Isernio, who federal authorities say masterminded the Nassau
County insurance scandal, has agreed to admit leadership of the scheme
and plead guilty to conspiring to bribe a Nassau County official and
defraud the county, according to sources familiar with the case.
As part of a plea bargain, Isernio, who headed Benefit Plan
Administrators in Melville, will be sentenced to 7 to 9 years in
prison and pay the government more than $4 million in forfeitures,
fines and back taxes, the sources said.
The plea is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday before U.S. District Judge
Joanna Seybert in U.S. District Court in Central Islip, according to
the court calendar.
Federal prosecutor Joseph Conway and Nassau County prosecutor Peter
Mancuso declined to comment late Monday. Isernio's attorney, John Wing
of Manhattan, did not return calls.
Isernio made his decision to work out a plea-bargain in the case from
a prison cell. In a separate case, he was convicted last week of
income-tax evasion and avoiding currency reporting requirements. In an
unusual move for a white-collar case, Seybert, showing her displeasure
with his conduct, ordered him sent immediately to jail, saying he was
a flight risk.
Isernio was under great pressure to work out a plea bargain with the
government by Tuesday because that is when Seybert had scheduled jury
selection on a retrial of his role in the Nassau insurance case. If
convicted at trial, Isernio could have faced 13 years in prison.
After a four-month trial in April, a jury split 9-3 for convicting
Isernio on the charges of conspiring to bribe former Nassau Deputy
County Executive Robert McDonald and defraud the county of $70
million. McDonald has pleaded guilty in that case, as has former
Suffolk County Republican leader William Michael Blake. Both have been
cooperating with prosecutors.
During the income-tax evasion trial, Isernio acknowledged that he was
a gambler who carried large amounts of cash and bet thousands of
dollars on hands of blackjack.

Yang, I'm not usually given to ad hominems or personal insults. But you are being an ***** hole by cross posting like
you do and thereby prompting other loons to crosspost here.
STOP IT!
If you want to discuss politics in alt.atheism, post only to alt.atheism, mark it as off topic (as your posts
almost always are) and actually condescend to discuss rather than post and run.
You, I can killfile. I can't kill file the other whackos.

Although I'd have to agree that he's gone *Way*
over the top here, I don't think it's fair to take
responsibility away from anyone else.
Yang is responsible for his crossposts, and the
other people are responsible for what they
crosspost. I find it very hard to believe that anyone
as seriously disturbed as these people obviously
are would suddenly become normal if only Yang
wasn't quite so obsessive.
Other than that, yeah, I agree he should stop
crossposting to alt.atheism. Not because he must
somehow take responsibility for anybody else's
actions, but because it's frigging annoying to see
10,000 threads on the same subject.
Bush is a complete *****. I get it. I got it the first
time. Heck, I even agree with him. Let's move
on.

I agree Yang shouldn't cross-post, or bait the neo-cons, but I don't
think his postings are responsible for drawing the "Liberals Hate
America" name-changing troll to the group. This guy has been spamming
groups under different names like this for ages. Doing a search for his
usual tagline of
"Left-wing Liberals are EVERYTHING they accuse the right of being.
They are mean, vicious, hateful, cold-hearted, intolerant, bigoted and
racist"
I got this:
http://groups.google.com/groups?as_q=Left-wing%20liberals%20are%20EVERYT
HING%20they%20accuse&safe=images&ie=ISO-8859-1&lr=&num=100&hl=en
As you can see just from this small sample he changes names and
addresses regularly to stay ahead of killfiles and he's a perennial
pain in the *****. Why does he post to such diverse groups, and not, say,
alt.liberalism? Because these are the places he gets a response from.
He's getting lots of responses here, too.
As always, the only permanent solution to a troll is to IGNORE THE
*****. If Yang is doing anything wrong, it's that he's giving
attention to these whackos. But he's hardly the only offender; lots of
us are guilty on that score, myself included--but I'm in recovery :)
It's easy to killfile a troll, even if he changes names ten times a
day. It's the responses to the troll that take time to set up a filter
for. When our troll friend isn't getting the negative attention he
craves, he'll dry up and blow away. So please don't feed the trolls!

Not as funny as the fact that it isn't the same thing at all, and many
people have pointed this out. You were just too clever to fall into
their trap though, and refused to notice.
What Yang posts is fact based, even if he does inject his opinion.
Secondly, he's not avoiding kill files by changing his name every
day, sometimes several times a day. People have an easy means
of avoiding it.
The third & most obvious difference is that Yang is not a posting
bot, and he does take an active role within the threads he sparks.
They may be topics that you, personally, don't want to discuss, but
they are no less valid a subject than Intelligent Design or evolution.
Where they are similar are in their crossposting, which is the major
complaint against Yang. What this should tell you is that, absent the
crossposting (maybe with the "OT" suggested by others), his articles
would be appropriate. However, this is *Not* true for the neo-con
***** you lick up.
Anyhow, I look forward to you ignoring all these valid points, and
responding with your usual (f)Lame.
Thanks in advance.

It is absolutely the same.
It's a thing I have noticed.
I noticed because I pay attention.
Listen to one side or listen to the other.
The language is the same.
The passion is the same.
The bleating ***** is the same.
The accusations are the same.
Sheesh!!!!
It never changes.
Why the hell don't you explain to me why it's different?
And I'll be damned if I will buy into the majority opinion just
because the majority believes in it.
You know...the "Many people have pointed this out..you were just too
clever to fall into their trap though " sort of thing.
Like the "***** is inferior...the ***** is a natural born pervert
and a danger to our children and our way of life!"
That sort of majority opinion.
And yes, I am too clever to fall into the trap.
I have a mind of my own.
It's mine, got it?
And mine alone!
And I'll be damned if anyone will deprive me of it.
I will be damned to Hell first!!!
Got it?
Damned to absolute fucking Hell and the Devil and God Himself can kiss
my independant godddamned ***** if they don't like it!

Yang and I have been disagreeing for at least three years on different
subjects.
But we have always done so on an honorable basis.
I certainly don't need you to explain him to me.
We both bleed for every human being who dies in Iraq.
We just see it differently in some ways.
He is angry about it and I am angry about it.
And as far as changing his nick...
He would never do such a thing.
He is too honorable for such chickenshit trash.
Too much of a man if you will pardon the American southern view of
things.
And keep in mind the fact that I have no reason to kiss up to him.
Nothing to gain by it.
Other than his respect, which means a great deal to me.
The third & most obvious difference is that Yang is not a posting
bot, and he does take an active role within the threads he sparks.
They may be topics that you, personally, don't want to discuss, but
they are no less valid a subject than Intelligent Design or evolution.
I don't have a clue where you are coming from.
I didn't say the first negative thing about him and will not.
I consider him to be a trusted friend.
I don't know what you are getting at here.
Where they are similar are in their crossposting, which is the major
complaint against Yang. What this should tell you is that, absent the
crossposting (maybe with the "OT" suggested by others), his articles

I don't "lick up" to anybody pissant!
Neither neo-liberals or neo-cons.
As a matter of fact I said his crossposting doesn't bother me
personally.
I just understand the reasons some other regulars resent it.
Their opinions have to be respected.
We are a community here.
And as a community we set certain standards.
That's just the way of it.
I don't think anybody meant him the least bit of harm.
The request may have been a bit harsh <And imo it was> but it was a
request nonetheless.
Nobody can demand that anybody here <Usenet> stop posting anything
anywhere.
But we certainly also have the right to police ourselves.
And sometimes it pays to pay attention.
And if you don't agree with the majority?
Well to hell with them if you are willing to pay the price.
That takes a bit of courage sometimes.
But sometimes it's just not worth it.
Sometimes it's just a matter of respect to give it up.
As long as no one is harmed by it.
Anyhow, I look forward to you ignoring all these valid points, and
responding with your usual (f)Lame.
You want me to stop flamming you?
Then you afford me the same damned courtesy.
Not complicated is it?
You set the tone for the relationship quite a while back.
I'm willing to forget it all.
Got it?
Your choice.
I would much rather have a decent conversation with you and discuss
the issues in a rational manner than to play this stupid usenet
flamming game.
I can't learn a damned thing by that.
Thanks in advance.
You're welcome.

There you go.
Once again I offered up the olive branch and once again
you refused it.
You are not a nice human being.
You are arrogant and cold blooded.
It will not serve you well in life.
Believe it or not most of the world is not impressed with you.
I know that's a terrible thing to say but it's true.
That sniggering you hear in the background?
It's your co-workers and so called friends laughing at you.
But then you do deserve it don't you?
You're the butt of the joke.
The know it all idiot.

You are transparent.

You just think you are leaving them impressed.

Then again you don't really get invited out all that much do you?

You are completely right. However I would just like to point out that
all I do is that I see an incoming post, I take the same crossposts,
and post a news story I find on news.google. With admittedly a
somewhat inflammatory headline I add at my discretion.
I think maybe it just seems you have become somewhat obsessive.

You're probably right. But it's my MO. When I see some theists post
some stuff about how religion make them morally superior to atheist, I
simply go to news.google and find all the pastors and ministers who
got caught molesting little kids. And invariably I find a good dozen
of them that get caught. This is not to say that all Christians are
childmoelsters but I think a 20 posts about 20 different pastors
caught molesting little kids on the tail of some fundmentalist claim
of moral surperiority is a pretty effective way of taking down that
claim. I use the exact same methodolgy here- whenever I see a
rightwing hwo "Librals hate America" or "Liberals hate veterans" I
simply find all the Democrats that served in the armed forces and all
the Republicans that skipped out on it, not that all Republicans are
cowards but that any claims of GOP superior morality falls apart in
the face or scrutiny.
I've admitted that I am being an ***** about this before, and I
admitted now. I completely agree with Gregory Gadow's assessment of
what I'm doing. But here's my take on the thing- what have ignoring
the trolls leave us? Yeah, ignore those creationist rantings, it's not
as if they'll take over our school boards or anything. Sure, ignore
the bomb-throwing rhetorics of Ann Coulter, it's not as if she'll ever
have a large following or that the RNC will ever resort to her tactics
and compare a Vietnam veteran who lost 3 of his limbs for his country
to Osama Bin Laden. The way I see it, why shouldn't I try to beat them
at their own game? I'm not going to convince any of the conservatives
out there, but I'm sure the hell not going to let the people who are
on fence think that silence equals consent.
And I will make this one promise- if there ever comes a time when the
Librals start clamoring for conservative to be executed simply for
being conservative, as Ann Coulter has done, you have my complete
support in telling them to FOAD.

The thing is is that we only have to killfile Yang once (I did so earlier
today). We have to killfile the anti-American neo-con troll several times a day
because he keeps changing headers.
I do have to admit that I am surprised that a neo-con actually knows that much

doesn't have anything else to do with his life.

Yeah that'll stop him
The thing is is that we only have to killfile Yang once (I did so earlier
today). We have to killfile the anti-American neo-con troll several times
a day
because he keeps changing headers.
I do have to admit that I am surprised that a neo-con actually knows that
much
about computers to change his headings, however I'm not surprised that he
doesn't have anything else to do with his life.
Keep in mind that there is a "Yang" and "Yang Chung." They are two different
people.
"Yang" does not come across as a neo-con.
"Yang Chung" does.
My post was addressed specifically to the former. I have no problem with his
posts, really, except that he lays them out as troll-bait with the crossposting.

My point exactly. Although I generally agree with Yang's positions (not
entirely but for the most part), his behaviour had become intolerable...thus
the plonk.

I plonked him too, a while ago. Kind of hated to do it because I don't
necessarily disagree with him, but the way he's going about it and his
increasingly abrasive tone were getting on my nerves.
