TAIPEI (Reuters) - For many people in Taiwan, Mao Zedong was the
Communist bandit who stole China from the Nationalist Generalissimo
Chiang Kai-shek at the end of the Chinese civil war in 1949.
But an exhibition of Mao's photographs, the first of its kind on the
self-ruled island claimed by China as its own, opened this week in
Taipei showing the Great Helmsman in a different light.

Maybe, but the fact that Mao liked to play with kids
doesn't change anything. Hitler was nice to his dog, too.

Hey!
I wanted to let you know: I met some of the members of
your Chinese dissident group. They explained the whole
thing to me.
I still think you're all crazy, and that there's no way
you're going to actually succeed at violently overthrowing
the Chinese government & executing the present leaders.
But, hey, good luck!

What are you angry about? Just because I said that I don't
think you'll succeed in overthrowing the Chinese
government?
Sorry, but that is my honest opinion.
I'm not passing judgment on you. I don't even know what
your issues are, why you want to execute all the Chinese
government officials after you take over.
I'm not even asking.
I was just letting you know that I met some of your fellow
revolutionaries -- Chinese dissidents -- and I now have
a better understanding of where you're coming from.
I must admit, tapping into Chinese nationalism the way
you've been doing isn't a bad strategy.
Good luck!

I'm sure that was said about the Soviet Union. But we allied with them
