Talking to a brick wall |
Whenever I feel optimistic about dealing with bible thumping wackos I go and
actually listen to them for a while, the optimism quickly fades.
Last night in one of the AOL born again chat room one of the zealots gave this
gem of a post:
"People that deny creationism never offer any alternatives!"
How is ignorance like this even fucking possible in America circa 2005?!?!?!?
Okay, I ranted I feel better, thanks.

I once had a 19 year old girl, who claimed she was going to university say
to me that evolution wasn't true and that you can't trust what scientists
say about evolution because "Scientist don't even know what causes
rainbows!"
Need I say more?

She was right. Scientists have no clue that rainbows are the symbol
of a covenant between a man long dead and a god that never existed.

What gets me is HOW could a person get to 19 without finding out about
it...even accidentally??? We have a long running children's show here for
toddlers and pre-schoolers called "Play School" and even THEY once explained
rainbows!

Brainwashing. Wilful ignorance. Fear.
We have a long running children's show here for
toddlers and pre-schoolers called "Play School" and even THEY once explained
rainbows!
And fundy children are told to ignore that, since we KNOW that
rainbows are Gawd's covenant, etc.

Oh great, now I'm depressed.
See, it's stories like this, and not your fault by the way Evil, that
constantly remind me of the 1000cc brained, knuckle dragging, tree
swinging, thick skulled members of our species that simply refuse to
evolve to any higher form. Mostly in the US.
And the worst part is, I'm part of that collection.
Now I'm depressed.

Creationism is defined in more ways than one - as a comment regarding the age of
mankind and as a means of describing the creation of the universe and all that
is in it.
To the latter, I say that creationism and only creationism is possible. What
