Roy Moore set to run for governor
By Jannell McGrew and John Davis
Montgomery Advertiser
It's official.
Ousted Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore is running for
governor in 2006.
Moore, on Monday, announced his candidacy for the state's highest
executive office. Montgomery resident Frank Hardy, a long-time Moore
supporter and Republican, praised the former jurist for throwing his
hat into the election ring.
"This country was founded on Christian principles, and I haven't seen
anyone yet who will do the work that (former) Judge Moore will do,"
Hardy said. "I believe that he is the man for the job." ...

As long as they grovel before his Ten Commandments

It was a publicity ploy.
Moore knew that putting a giant granite block of the Ten
Commandments on government property was illegal, and he
knew that Alabama's own courts wouldn't allow it.
He also knew that he'd get lots of publicity and support
from the Religious Right for doing so.
There's no way on earth that Moore could've become a laywer
and a judge without knowing that such a religious display
on government property would be illegal.
He had to know that even Alabama's own courts would never
allow it. In fact, he admitted as much:
After the ruling, Moore said he was not surprised by the decision and
that he was being removed from office because he "acknowledged God."
http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/11/13/moore.tencommandments/
He deliberately instigated the confrontation:
"God has chosen this time and this place so we can save our country
and save our courts for our children," Moore said.
http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/11/13/moore.tencommandments/
Not quite, MOORE chose that time and that place to make
himself a public matyr for the Christian God so that he
could raise his profile and improve his chances for
becoming governor.
Simply put, he broke the law so that he could break into
politics. Moore is just another Republican crook (but of
the less lethal variety than Cheney).

Ahem:
| MONTGOMERY, Alabama (CNN) -- Alabama's judicial ethics panel removed
| Chief Justice Roy Moore from office Thursday for defying a federal
| judge's order to move a Ten Commandments monument from the state
| Supreme Court building.
| [...]
| U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson ruled the granite carving was an
