Object: That sucks!
"You know what my favorite thing in the world is?
I'll tell you.
Each week, millions and millions of upper middle class American citizens put
on expensive dress clothes, load themselves into suv's and drive past
homeless shelters, orphanages, prisons, missions and halfway houses on their
way to a very expensive and nice church, where someone tells them to be more
like Jesus.
That is fucking awesome, let me tell you."

I have keys that stick and don't "register" all the time. It's the
technology.
Then one doesn't notice that one's spell checker has "un-clicked"
itself. Mine does that occasionally, too.
Once it's posted, it can't be corrected.
My mouse also repeats. I've had several that do. The mouse I use
now repeats.
Meaning, you press the button ONCE, to take you to the spell
checker. The button clicks twice, ACCEPTING the post un-checked.
Many of my "typos" have been nothing but my mouse repeating.

I keep looking for a verse of scripture that explains it.
There isn't one.

Yes there is:
Rom 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause
divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned;
and avoid them.
I forgive you, but want nothing to do with you.
Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute
you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my

Before you do, you might want to bring to his attention
the well-studied inverse relation between
years of education and religiosity.
Here's a link to one such study. (he might want to start

Interesting VERY false supposition. I might even say, "interesting
PRE-supposition."
The study was undoubtedly conducted with the "facts" in hand BEFORE
The study was done!
Also, I guarantee you, the "study" was done in carefully
pre-selected geographic areas.
The FACT is, I have never in my life attended a church that didn't
run the gamut from brick-layers and ditch diggers to doctors, lawyers,
judges, scientists, and engineers.
One doesn't need to be an idiot or uneducated to believe.
Some of the least educated, most opinionated people I've ever
encountered numbered among the atheists.
And I've never met anyone any dumber or less educated than a pompous
***** who was DUMB enough, egotistical enough, ego-centric enough to
declare like a trained baboon, " There Is No God!"
Ridiculous!

Likewise, 9 of the 10 pastors I've had in 60 years has had a Dr in
front of his name, indicating some 10 years of post-graduate study.
One can't be stupid or illiterate and learn Greek and Hebrew. ALL my

I note that you once again very dishonestly chopped the part of my
post in which I mentioned that said scholars are fluent in Hebrew and
Greek, and all are / were translators.
That is, all were involved in translating the Bibles many of us use
today.
Your cute remark didn't take THAT FACT into account.
And the men I referred to are luminaries in the Conservative
Christian movement.
Dr Walter Carpenter, Dr Walter Pegg, Dr RB Culbreth, Dr Stookey,
Dr Jess Moody, Dr John MacArthur, Dr Holland London.
world famous scholars all of them.
I DO know that you have no respect for scholarship; I also know that
none of them would have any respect for you, either!

Fortunately, I don't have that problem with my second wife's family.
They are all intelligent, reasonable and decent people, and none of them
are religious at all.
Different story with my first wife. (One of the reasons she is an ex-wife)
Her lot were as thick as the family bible, quite nasty and always plotting
against each other.
They all attended church and were horrified to find a non-believer had
joined the family.
There wasn't a single one of them who knew as much about the bible as
myself.
The ex- wife was so dumb, she honestly thought Jesus was English.
She completely insisted that Jesus lived in ancient times and was under the
assumption that he spent most of his life in the UK, converting people,
hence the Church Of England.
I wouldn't mind, but she was Catholic too!
Her aunt, who was one habit short of a nun, sent off to the pope for a papal
blessing for our marriage.
This document, signed by The Holy Father, is supposed to ensure a long and
happy union.
Just like most of the other bunk claimed by theists, it didn't work.

I believe that ^ ^ is called an " oxymoron."
There are also intelligent, reasonable, decent people who are people
of faith.

Different story with my first wife. (One of the reasons she is an ex-wife)
Her lot were as thick as the family bible, quite nasty and always plotting

Interesting how you cast those who don't kiss your butt, and who
think for themselves.

They all attended church and were horrified to find a non-believer had
joined the family.

What you're not getting, moron, is that those who believe were
horrified to think that one of their own, a BELIEVER, had chosen to go
"outside" the faith and marry someone NOT of their faith.
Like a Jew would be horrified (understandably) to find one of their
children had married a Christian!
Exact same concept, in reverse.

There wasn't a single one of them who knew as much about the bible as
myself.

Don't break your arm, patting your back.

The ex- wife was so dumb, she honestly thought Jesus was English.

Well, we may not all be as educated as you! I'm betting you have at
LEAST 5 Ph Ds, and I am certain you speak 10 languages fluently!
At which Ivy League university are you a professor emeritus?
Or is it several?

She completely insisted that Jesus lived in ancient times and was under the
assumption that he spent most of his life in the UK, converting people,
hence the Church Of England.

Why is it that many would now think you're lying?

I wouldn't mind, but she was Catholic too!

Um, dumbass, "Catholic" isn't "Christian."
Catholics OPPOSE or are ignorant of MUCH Christian doctrine. They
don't even believe in the Trinity. They say they do, but they make
Mary a god.
And now, you've wasted enough of my time!

The FACT is, I have never in my life attended a church that didn't
run the gamut from brick-layers and ditch diggers to doctors, lawyers,
judges, scientists, and engineers.

The fact is that everyone at my Freethought Society meeting has at least BS
and most have advanced degrees. No bricklayers.

Did you know Sir Isaac Newton believed in God? Is he
important/accomplished enough a "scientist" for you?
How about Madam Curie?
Would you have called General Robert E Lee incompetent or stupid?
He almost whipped the Yanks!
He believed in God!
I could go on, but frankly, I don't think you're interested.
But, as far as only bricklayers being Christians, perhaps you were

Judge Joe Brown is a Christian, The Cowboy Judge is a Christian.
Judge Greg Mathis is a Christian. Judge Marilyn Mulian is a

Judge Maybelline is a Christian.

There have been a dozen or more astronauts who are/ were Christians.
Gus Grissom (the guy whose landing capsule sank into the sea)
Col Jim Irwin (moon project) was a Christian.
I've been a Christian for some 50 years now, and I've known drs,

Did you know Sir Isaac Newton believed in God? Is he

So was everything that Sir Isaac believed in fact? He believed in alchemy.
Does that make alchemy true or Christianity false.

How about Madam Curie?

Would you have called General Robert E Lee incompetent or stupid?
He almost whipped the Yanks!
He believed in God!

I could go on, but frankly, I don't think you're interested.

Because it's a pointless exercise. I can point to thousands of people that
believe that there are fairies in meadows but it doesn't make it true.

But, as far as only bricklayers being Christians, perhaps you were
unaware (maybe you don't watch much court TV.

Judge Joe Brown is a Christian, The Cowboy Judge is a Christian.
Judge Greg Mathis is a Christian. Judge Marilyn Mulian is a
Christian.
Judge Maybelline is a Christian.

LOL...who the ***** gives one flying fart what those people think.
Dubya believes in God. He's an idiot. Does that make all Christians idiots.
No. But conversely, no number of smart people that believe in Christianity
makes it any more true.

shall I go on?

There have been a dozen or more astronauts who are/ were Christians.
Gus Grissom (the guy whose landing capsule sank into the sea)
Col Jim Irwin (moon project) was a Christian.

Yeah, and he has gone to Turkey looking for the Ark. Not too smart eh?
Unless you believe in that myth. But of course, why wouldn't you. You are a
typical credulous theist who buries the bar for evidence when it comes to
his own religion and then raises it to an impossibly high level for science.

I've been a Christian for some 50 years now, and I've known drs,
lawyers, judges, scientists, engineers, nurses, research scientists.

So what? Who cares?

When I worked in computer engineering (Boeing, Microsoft, DOD), I
met probably 20 or 30 Christians who were serious engineers (project

So what? Who cares?

I'll stop there, since you likely haven't even read that far!

You must not be very smart if you think that any of what you wrote lends any
credence to the Christian claim.

You truly don't need to find excuses to not believe. You have every
right to not believe.
Just say, "I don't believe because I CHOOSE to not believe." But
that doesn't explain why you so childishly hang out in Christian

Precisely.
You do not wish to believe. I was merely pointing out that there
have been (and are today) some very bright, very educated people who
believe in God.
