The Greeks had the golden rule some five hundred years
before Jesus was born. It was quite popular among the Roman
philosophers, and Jesus could easily have picked it up form
someone. There are variations of it in nearly every religion.

While the Golden Rule - a term not found in Scripture, by the
way - may have variants in other cultures, it is illogical to
presume they originated with those cultures, if you deny that
claim for the teachings of Christ.

I think former English Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain had that thought
in his mind when he met with Hitler and signed the Munich Pact in 1938, I

Does that include the person who *never* brings it back, too?

I can see the point about not being selfish, showing tolerance, and being
more of a non-violent type. But when a Hitler invades your country, has your
citizens beaten mercilessly, 'borrows' your natural resources without any
intention of giving them of giving back something in return, doesn't even
bother to go to court to take your possessions for himself, and transforms
your citizens into slave labor, I don't think 'turning the other cheek' is
exactly what needs to be done in this situation. You end up getting your *****
handed back to you in a hand-basket doing that. What in the hell was Jesus
thinking? And isn't he the same guy who 'mouthed' Mt. 10:34-36? And isn't he
contradicting the 'spirit' of Mosaic law here?

What a confusing religion, that Christianity.

That's nothing. The Ten Commandments teaches us that it's a SIN to eat
cheeseburgers:

Ex 34:12-16 - Take care not to make a covenant with the inhabitants of

water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten
commandments.

You see, the claim that there are standards in the bible is hollow and
ridiculous unless there is some indication that those standards are actually
put into practice in the real world.
