Object: The Christian faith test
I wrote an OkCupid test yesterday.
www.okcupid.com
Based on feedback received and extensive testing by 101 sheep and
goats, this test has been tweaked and modified so that it's damn near
perfect.
Based on your answers to 10 multiple choice questions (some of which
are rather unusual and may teach you something), you will be
categorised as one of: * True Believer * Everyday Christian * Agnostic
* Atheist
This test is a serious test and does not belittle anyone.
To take The Christian faith test click here:

one easy step.)

Shame on you then.
I warned atheists against being as closed minded as True Believers can
be.
This is what I wrote for Atheists:
~ ~ ~
You don't believe any of that Christian garbage and you probably say it
like that too! There's too many things (in Christianity) that just
don't add up for you.
Has it ever occurred to you, though, that atheism can be as much like a
religion as Christianity is? Perhaps, but probably not, right?
Final thought: rational scientists need open minds too. It is the
closed mind that fails to observe that which is important.
~ ~ ~
Don't agree with that? You don't have to.
And yes, I do classify atheism as a religion.
In fact, I think everyone can hold their own pet beliefs religiously,
even myself. And by that, I mean to close oneself off from new
knowledge because one has become arrogant in what one believes to be
exclusively true.

This statement of fact is completely false. Most of the Christian
scripture was not written for 3-4 hundred years after the death of
Jesus.
"All Christian scripture was written during and after the Jewish revolt
in Judea which was finally put down by the Romans in 73CE with the fall
of Masada. "

This statement of fact is completely false
"Jesus' teachings represent a major departure from the OT because he
revokes the aggressive vengeful teaching of "an eye for an eye" and
replaces it ..."
"an eye for an eye" was never intended as an aggressive vengefulness.
It was intended as ridicule of aggressive vengefulness. Something on
the order of "If he pokes out your eye, what are you going to do? Poke

No, that is incorrect.

In fact, my original question (as stated above) has been corrected.
Mark was the first Gospel written in the date range 68 - 73 CE. But
Paul wrote scripture before then.

I don't see your claim as being valid.

Matthew 5:
An Eye for an Eye
38"You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for
tooth.' 39But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone
strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if
someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak
as well. 41If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.
42Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who
wants to borrow from you.
Love for Enemies
43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your
enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who
persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He
causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the
righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what
reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And
if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others?
Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly
Father is perfect.

Makes sense.... I wasn't disappointed with my score. As a nonchristian
I expected to not score high on christian faith considering the
questions.
*sigh* I think a lost a casual friend yesterday. We'd been working
all day with the children and "my" parents. At the end of the day when
preparing to leave, she wished me a "Merry Christmas". I usually just
return a "Happy Holidays" and say no more, but this time I told her I
"didn't do Christmas as I wasn't a christian". The look on her face!

I wrote an OkCupid test yesterday.

To take The Christian faith test click here:
http://www.okcupid.com/tests/take?testid=7375873136864464672

That test is Horseshit. The choices are written in such a way that it
results in answers you want to hear. -CB

As I am a theist, I expected to have a very low atheist score. I scored
higher than a few atheists. I sure didn't take the test expecting that!
:-?

I think that the test was slanted towards religious belief, especially
the Christian one. I think that any non Christian would have scored high,
whether they believed in gods or not.

Makes sense.... I wasn't disappointed with my score. As a nonchristian I
expected to not score high on christian faith considering the questions.

*sigh* I think a lost a casual friend yesterday. We'd been working all
day with the children and "my" parents. At the end of the day when
preparing to leave, she wished me a "Merry Christmas". I usually just
return a "Happy Holidays" and say no more, but this time I told her I
"didn't do Christmas as I wasn't a christian". The look on her face! :-(

I think I lost one too. A little old man sells smokes real cheap to people
who live here and he delivers them night or day (he lives here too). Last
night he had a new real short haircut and said happy holidays in case I
don't see you again. I hope he doesn't have cancer, people die in the
building all the time. Cheerful atmosphere. Bummer

I just went into a local shop which carries primarily handmade art by
local artists. Some of it is magnificent (and I wish I could afford
it) and some of it is ... well .... not so good. :-)
I noticed a display for one artist whose work I do like. She has
passed away. Anyone who can contribute in the smallest way to the
happiness of others - whether your little old man delivering smokes
night or day or the artist - are to be missed.

That is sad. I wonder why people react like that? some years ago, the
company for which I worked threw a little office party at work. A woman
came up to me and asked: "Well, which is it for you, John, Christmas or
Hanukkah?" Half tongue in cheek I answered: "Actually, it's neither. for
me it's Winter solstice." She gave me the oddest, saddest, sorriest
look, and walked away shaking her head. Rather than angry or insulted, I
felt really sorry for a person whose preconceived notions and prejudices
would not even let her accept the fact that someone might be different.

that was more unlikely then having a martian visit her.

in March of this year, I had some Afrikaans Christian woman (situated in
Pretoria, South Africa) spam me a memo. This damn fool Christian was
upset about some movie that made fun of Jesus and she wanted people to
petition to get it banned.
So I flamed the entire circulation list.
She responded, asking me why. I told her because it denies other people
their rights, and that her preferences ought not be imposed on others. I
also told her I was an atheist.
She found that incredible. Apparently she had never ever met anyone who
didn't believe in God.
I asked her from under which rock she had just crawled.
I never heard back from her.
I find it inconceivable that some people have never met up with people
who don't believe in God.
Who are these fuckheads? Where do they breed?
I mean, we really need to eradicate Christianity.
It makes people stupid.

One of my better friends who lives in my building and knows very well that
I'm an athiest sent me the most religious Xmas card she could find.
It was store bought as a single, not from a box of cards.
I should arrange a picnic in the gardens here and have games like latke
toss, carry the matzo ball on a spoon, pin the kugle on the cross, etc.

I suppose that there are people who live in very tight communities or
very sheltered lives who might think like that. But in South Africa,
there are newspapers, television programs, the radio, etc. I don't
understand it either. Some people believe only what they want to believe
and ignore facts.
