Yes and no, considering that neither really have much of a say in the

Interesting how badly the US wants help from the European union in Iraq.
Quite frankly, I would have one heck of a time if I were France or
Gemany, saying no to GWB when ever he requests help for his little
conquests.
Maybe Bin Laden will do us all a favour and whipe your god forsaken

That is not necessarily true. While the majority of those who voted
did vote for the Republican candidate it does not follow that all of
those voters support a radical agenda.
Plus the religious organizations are among the best organized in not
only getting their agenda before their people but in having those
people do as they are told, and they were told to vote for Bush. Even
though it seems federal laws about tax exempt status were frequently
ignored in the process. Since the recipient of these votes won the
election it is not probable that any serious investigation will be
made.
We can only wait and see what the next four years will bring, but you
can be sure the professional politicians are well aware of the large
number of people who did not vote - and they really don't want to do
anything that will energize these non-voters to march to the voting
booth in the next election and upset apple carts.
There will be a lot or speeches, promises, and other rhetoric. There
will even be legislation passed. But when the dust settles it remains
to be seen if an organized minority can actually take over the country
and be able to run it as they wish.
The next election may well make this one look like a walk in the park
if enough backlash is generated.

Maybe the 48million should put advertisements in papers around the world saying
"approximately 48million people, looking for new place ot migrate to,
holds centre left views, won't cause problems, above average
intelligence; most speak foreign languages; most don't act like
stereotypical Americans" :-)
As I've said to American friends, move overseas. People who sit on the
centre left are generally above average intelligence; most of the
academics, leave the US, and the US economy ends up turning back to a
society of $5 t-shirt manufacturers and television assemblers getting
paid $4 for export to the rest of the world.
Hell, if I were American, i would be even considering movig to China,
Taiwan or Hong Kong as a viable option.

Ha, ha, ha, no. I'm not an Australian, and secondly not all the states
in Australia were convict colonies. Btw, there were convict colonies in
the Americas too.
Sorry, I cam from New Zealand; made up of disgruntled English and
Scottish people, and unlike those in Australia or America, we don't
have some sort of anti-English or anti-European agenda.

country. Hicks, weirdos, rednecks, religious freaks, yolkos and every
other type of weirdo that other countrys have kicked out.

You mean as opposed to convicts, pedophiles, convicted felons, faggots,

and

all the other assorted riff-raff that made up yours?

Ha, ha, ha, no. I'm not an Australian, and secondly not all the states
in Australia were convict colonies. Btw, there were convict colonies in
the Americas too.

Well not quite. About 160,000 were sent to NSW while about 55,000 were sent
to Georgia and Virginia. And given the fact that over 100 million
eventually emigrated to the U.S. while only about 10 million to Australia,
our convict population was also quite small, relatively speaking. Not just
in the original numbers. And especially compared to the African slave
trade.
http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=339494
And wasn't NSW the most populous AU state? Both when it was formally
founded and now?

Sorry, I cam from New Zealand; made up of disgruntled English and
Scottish people, and unlike those in Australia or America, we don't
have some sort of anti-English or anti-European agenda.

Yes and I voted for Bush (in a state that went with Kerry). I also went to
college, I wasn't born in the sticks, am not terribly religious and my neck
isn't red. I'm also not of English or Scottish ancestry.
So your stereotypical point up above was... ?

Don't you just love a brief but direct response?

Yeap. Then again, I knew Bush was going to win; just take a long hard
look at the US, and the type of people who make up the god forsaken
country. Hicks, weirdos, rednecks, religious freaks, yolkos and every
other type of weirdo that other countrys have kicked out.

Isn't that how we started?
But not all Americans are that way; some of us have traveled, even
lived in hard countries long enough to realise that there ARE other
countries who do just fine without the USA. Yes, hicks, there are
other countries beside the USA.

Yes, but unfortunately you make up a *VERY* small minority of the population.
The average American has no concept of the "Big OE", the idea of when
one finishes univeristy and travells the world, living it rough,
working in pubs and travelling around Europe, Asia etc. then comeing
back to settle down, get a job and have a family.

Well, I am doing those a little out of that order, and doing a number
of those things simultaneously now, and at an older age.
Counts still, right? :-)

yeap, definately counts. You're right, you're definately not an average
American; are you second generation immigrants? good education? just
trying to work out how you didn't fall into the typical isolationist
mold that most yanks put themselves into.

It brings up one point that I would LOVE to see a study of, that is:
Among Americans who have PASSPORTS, I'd like to see the breakdown of
voting..... I have a suspicion that it would be around 80% kerry / 20%
bush.
