Republican benefactor of conservative Christian groups, Richard A.
Dasen Sr., was found guilty of raping a 15-year old girl. Dasen, 62,
who is married with grown children and several grandchildren, has
allegedly told police that over the past decade he paid more than $1
million to have sex with a large number of young women.

KALISPELL - Businessman Richard Arnold Dasen Sr. will wait a while
longer in the Flathead County jail, his upcoming sex-crimes sentencing
postponed until summer's end.
Dasen was convicted May 20 of a string of prostitution-related
felonies, including sexual abuse of children, promotion of
prostitution and several counts of solicitation. The high-profile
community and church leader could face prison time totaling 126 years
or life and fines in excess of $70,000.
Before he can be sentenced, however, a sex-offender evaluation must be
completed. That work was to be done by the July 18 sentencing date,
but an unexpected surgery has delayed evaluator Dr. James Myers.
Court officials have said Myers should complete Dasen's review by the
end of August, at which time the sentencing will be rescheduled.
Meanwhile, Dasen remains in jail, the judge having denied his request
for release pending sentencing.
