The Greek Text of Mark |
The author of the Gospel of Mark wrote the text in sections of 51 words.
Using the Nestle Greek text of Mark.
Chapter 1
Verses 3-5 contain 51 words
Verses 9-11 contain 52 words - omit 'Nazareth' so that the text reads:
.... came Jesus from Galilee.
As many scholars attest Nazareth did not exist until the 3rd century ad.
Verses 21-24 ending at 'Nazarene' contains 51 words.
A Nazarene is not a person from Nazareth - the word has the sense of "wandering holy
man".
Verses 28-31 contains 57 words
Replace 'of Simon and Andrew with James and John' in verse 29 with 'of him' - the
section now has 51 words. Also change 'of Simon' in verse 30 with 'of him'. The scene
now describes Jesus healing his own mother-in-law!
Verse 35 combined with verses 40-42 has 51 words.
Etc - all the way through the text.
The most startling result of this "reconstruction of the original" comes when one
reaches the crucifixion scene.
It was Simon of Cyrene on the cross!
The story of Jesus, King of the Jews, was, of course, a work of fiction used as a
vehicle for the author's criticisms of contemporary Judaism. The story was meant to be
read by the intelligencia - not by the common man. Whoever wrote it was a "prominent"
member of the literary world of the time.
In the original story Jesus had only two followers, James and John, the sons of
Zebedee - the story had a GREEK mythological basis.
Then someone skillfully altered the story - and Christianity, as we have it today, came
into existence.
So - two questions:
Who wrote the original story?
Who calculatedly altered it and changed it from a work of philosophical criticism of
(and rejection of) Judaism into the basis of a new varient of Judaism?
