The Matrix |

Why is there consciousness?
Because there is no such thing as "unconsciousness". Think about
this..
(1) You do not have physical existence before creation of this
universe, but you have only consciousness, thinking ability, emotions.
(2) You are alone.
(3) You are not dying. You are immortal.
Then what would you do?
Personally I think that if I had been in your place, I would somehow
multiply myself in elementary particles forming electrons, protons,
neutrons, atoms, molecule which in turn will form planets, solar
systems, galaxies. Before doing so, I would programme every elementary
particle about its behaviour, role until end of universe. According to
programme, some molecules will combine, regain consciousness and hence
form life. Rest we know...
This way I will be able to create "Matrix" and I will live in that
Matrix programmed by myself before creation of universe.
Why would I do so?
Answer is clear. It is better to live in "Matrix" than living in state
of "zeroness", lonelyness, facing curse of immortality.
We are creation of ourselves. We decided to create, programme this
Matrix and live in this Matrix. We decided to forget, erase everything
and then recall our past very slowly day by day. Until now, we have
reached to Big-Bang.
More "Matrix" is yet to come..

By the way, even this post was programmed by us...

So I am moron. Can you help me on this...
Machine do what we command it to do. If some machine, do what it is
not commanded to do, then this machine has got consciousness.
But if somehow it is proved that we human beings are doing what is
already programmed to do, our thinking ability, emotions, absolutely
everything is already programmed and we are being given "illusion"
that our "self" does exist, then in such circumstances how would you
define consciousness?

That would mean Microsoft Windows has consciousness.
Are you sure that's what you meant?

As an arbitrary threshold of mental complexity.

Us? What do you need an "us" for?
Because everything is interconnected. Every action-reaction of living
being or supposedly unconscious matter is programmed. This can not
happen without your "consent".
This can be explained in following way..
All the actors have written script about their role in Matrix. Now
matrix begins and everyone enters in character in such a terrific way
that all these actors completely forget their own identity,
personality, feelings etc.. Their idenity is this new character.
Everyone is playing this role. Their is no way to come out of this
character because this matrix never stops. If someone "wakes up"
during this Matrix, there is no use because this waking up was also
programmed. For example if I have come out of this character and
realised that this is dream, matrix. What I am seeing is not truth.
Then what will I do? I will shout at you wake up, wake up. But you
will try to shut me up saying that I have gone insane. Because it is
your role(programmed by yourself before creation of universe) not to
believe me so that this Matrix does not crash.
Your every thought, every word, every step, every action is
programmed. You think that you are thinking, doing. But you are just
reading it, following commands from your unconscious mind.
If you are "Noble", you are programmed. If you are "Evil", you are
programmed. Some will believe me, this is programmed. Some people will
not, this is also programmed. Some people will ignore me, this is also
programmed.
This Matrix will continue.

Great post. Yes, that is just about the gist of it. Have you read any Vedic
scripture such as the Bhagavad-Gita or the vast Srimad Bhagavatam? If you
like the matrix example, you will LOVE these ancient texts that say just
about that.
I have followed the ancient Vedic scriptures in my life for years, and I was
rather startled by the Matrix comparisons to what I have always believed
when I saw the films.

Born in India, living in India for 34 years, living in Hindu culture
but somehow I never touched any religious book. Whatever information I
have, it is from internet surfing.

Somehow, four years ago I started shouting that our universe is
created out of space, zero. But I was also startled and felt very
strange when I recalled reading somewhere in school book or newspaper
that somewhere in anceint vedas same thing is written. (I still don't
know in which vedas.)

They do require a lot of reading, but it is well worth it.
The most important thing to read is the Bhagavad Gita. No matter what your
religion, philosophy or view on life, I'd reccomend anyone read this.
You can learn a lot about the philosophy at http://www.krishna.ie and the
whole Bhagavad Gita is online there.

Startled because you assume that the film series is an affirmation of
the faith?

Its rare to go to the local cinema, and instead of some teen movie, to see a
detailed philosophical film that is a perfect analogy for what you believe
in and is actually entertaining too :-)

That's understandable, I experienced a subtle awe when my beliefs, or
philosophical stance, matched many of the religions. Immanuel Kant
summed it all up quite nicely, which was a refreshing surprise. As
for anything outside my own perception, to word it more accurately, as
for any reality that isn't part of my perceptible reality, there is no
difference found in it, there is no need to entertain "what might be".
It's useless, as is being lost in retrospect and dreaming of "what
might have been".

As the laws of physics, material world are universal, likewise laws of
philosophy, spiritual world are universal. Hence every person in
material world must reach to same universal law whatere way he/she
adopts, likewise every person in philosophical world must reach to
same univarsal philosophy whatever way he/she adopts.
Biggest problems is that in scientific world, we have proofs of laws,
everybody agrees, hence scientists do not bomb each other
countries/houses.
But in spiritual world, there are only beliefs, no proof of those
beliefs. Hence religious people go out and bomb each others
contries/houses when conflict of beliefs arises.
