The New DNC Chairman |
The Hotline surveyed 187 - out of 447 - members of the DNC and found that
Howard Dean was the first choice, with 58 votes! Dean could actually win
this thing! Could Republicans really be so lucky?
The Democrats have to be careful in this selection. After all, it is the
most powerful office that they currently have anywhere in the country.
The constant press regarding the selection is beginning to wear thin, but
it underscores how the Democrats place more emphasis on style than
substance. This is true in the coverage that Tim Roemer is receiving as a
pro-life Democrat. The Democrats have no intention of choosing Roemer; they
are only trotting him out there as a sign that they will be inclusive on
the abortion issue. This is what Democrats do on most issues. Many of their
members will talk before a tax cut vote, for example, about how they
support tax cuts, but they'll vote against it 99 times out of 100 when it's
time to vote. The Rats are simply not going to put someone over their party
who is pro-life. Pure and simple.
Now, I realize that many liberals would ask me why they chose the pro-life
Harry Reid to lead Senate Democrats if my assumption is correct. First, did
anyone really want Reid's job? Who would want to lead a group of only 44
senators that is likely to get even smaller in the near future? And it is
debatable how firmly pro-life that Reid is. He said recently that Kate
Michelman is one of his biggest fans and vice versa. Also, he has went
along with all filibusters of Bush judges. Abortion is the only real reason
that the filibustering of judges is going on because of liberals' fear that
if Roe v. Wade is overturned that the country would cease to exist. If Reid
is that firmly pro-life, he wouldn't be joining these ridiculous
filibusters.
The bottom line with liberals is to not listen to what they say about
issues, but watch how they act (i.e. vote on them). With Republicans, you
are much more likely to get what you vote for.
